  1. I think this is great, and I'm having a lot of fun producing all kinds of new content to be monetized. I've already gotten some good results, but there is so much room for improvement. I love making videos, so to get paid for it, is a huge bonus. I could make videos for free, and still be having a great time.
  2. I think fresh content is important, but once you get a good article that has a high ranking, it may be hard to duplicate that again. Of course, the more spots you hold, the better. But, if it's really worth it, I don't know. I think covering all of your keywords fully, and then building those up, is the best practice.
  3. I don't have any problems with it, but these days I'm starting to prefer html5 and javascript to replace it. As of right now, I don't think there are any advantages to using flash over html5 and javascript. I'd rather get with the future, but like I said, no problems other than that.
  4. You're right, but I would caution against trusting w3 as being right all the time. They do make plenty of mistakes on there, and a lot of times, they don't give the best practices, they just give out-dated examples. I'm not saying their horrible, but don't trust them blindly.
  5. I have firebug, but honestly, I never use it. I don't really have much use for it, I just do things myself. I guess it's just stuck in my head that is the way you do it. I think it's better to rely on yourself, and not a bunch of plugins, but, I wouldn't knock anybody for using what they do.
  6. I have a kind of framework that I work in, and I try to code things so that I can add to my overall functionality. So, for example, if you hired me to code a validation system, I would code it so that it could easily be reused in other projects. It would be able to be dropped into anything else I work on, without any errors or conflicts. Everything fits into the bigger picture. I'm not a commenter either, I rarely use them. I mostly code by myself, so nobody needs to decipher what I've done, and I can figure it out within a few minutes, so no need for them, in my eyes.
  7. I usually use the margin auto method to center things like this, but without looking into the overall code, I wouldn't know if that would do exactly what you're looking for. You're solution is good though, it's very close to what i use all the time.
  8. I use elance all the time, but not as a buyer. I use it as a worker, mostly doing voice over stuff, and some php programming. I think it's a great site, it was second only to vworker, which is no more. I get 90% of my income from working on these freelance sites, and I would definitely recommend elance.
  9. The very first language I ever learned was DarkBasic. I spent a lot of time figuring out how to use it, before just hitting a wall, and becoming lost. I threw in the towel, and moved on to actionscript, about 6 months later. Since then, everything has become much clearer now.

    Basic PHP Guide

Great guide, and thanks for writing it all out for us. One thing that I would like to add, is that it is not always necessary to use the closing php tag, the ?>. It's is not actually required, even though many think that it is. I had always thought, yeah, but it's still good form to include it, but I have heard that there are advantages to not using it, and it can save some headaches later.
