  1. 1. 500 word for a blog post. Although these days, its the longer the better. But it really depends on your niche. I don't seen anyone writing a 2000 word essay on banana milkshakes. Sometimes, the more pages your site has, the better it will rank overall. But if you want to rank a particular page, a lot of good content will help 2. I think the general formula is 2% keyword density. 3. Yes, keyword research is the most important part of building a niche site. An extra hour of keyword research could mean an extra $50 a month.
  2. Building your PC can save you over $300. These pre-made builds cost much, much more than their original costs because of the assembly price. And the assembly price is always overpriced. My build is: Intel i5 3570k Quad Core CPU @ 3.4 Ghz AMD 7870 XT 2GB Dedicated Graphics 2x4 GB Corsair 1600 Mhz RAM Asrock Z77 Pro3 Motherboard XFX 550w Gold-Rated PSU
  3. I'm no expert on this topic, but I think the Wordpress hosting has the one-click installer. They also might have dedicated wordpress directories automatically made for you. Performance is identical though and you would be fine with regular hosting. Just set up with your Wordpress with Fantastico (comes in most hosting panels) or do a five minute manual install.
  4. If you want to mess around with your website, then you don't need free hosting for that. Save all your files in folder and that can be your mini-hosting. Simply click on the HTML and it will show up in your browser. You can click everything on your page as long as everything is either: Web-based (i.e an external URL) In your directory (in this case the folder you saved everything.) I designed my first site like this and it didn't cost me a penny!
  5. Sorry for duplicate, please delete..
  6. Codeacademy. It is a gold mine for those who haven't seen it. They give detailed, but simple lessons on every aspect of HTML/CSS. The course takes 7 hours to complete, but its extremely effective and you can start making a website and customizing with CSS by the end. I also learned Javascript and PHP from that. I am debating whether or not to take the Ruby course, but I don't really know what Ruby is used for.
  7. External CSS is a must for me because I don't have to fill my HTML page with CSS. An HTML with solely HTML looks more organized to me and you can also edit easier. A seperate CSS file also allows for greater flexibility and customization. Not to mention that if you plan to trash your website, you can create a template and sell it on one of those online marketplaces. That's actually what I did and I made some sales.
