  1. Sorry, I must have read something wrong in the upgrade notices. I know NOTHING - obviously - about any of this. All I want to know is if I should agree to any upgrades, when "they" notify me. Thanks for being there - your help is MUCH needed & MUCH appreciated.
  2. Am getting notices that I should upgrade. Heard others talk of screwups. What are benefits? What are risks? Can risks be prevented? Can screwups be overcome? How? Have 2 uninstalled Windows 7 update messages. Install them first? Thanks much.
  3. What is ping? Is there something I can do or buy to fix it? Or do I need to tell the satellite co to fix it? Should I try to fix ping before upgrading my service? Thanks.
  4. My results - I tested 3 times within 10 minutes - from www.speedtest.net: bandwidth: didn't know how to test this ping: 1405 1539 1075 download speed: .08 .10 .16 upload speed: .07 .18 .17 This is with the 32-bit Internet Explorer 8. I didn't test it with the 64-bit Internet Explorer - should I? To watch webinars with the 64-bit version, I have to use a trial version of Adobe Flashplayer, which Geeksoup helped me to install - thank you! but Adobe says that they're not responsible if you have problems with it. Plus, I seem to have the same problems with it - poor/slow/fast/stop & start audio. Should I do these other browser diagnostic tests offered on speedtest.net? V8 Benchmark Suite Acid 3 Web Standards test Sunspider Java Script Benchmark Dromaeo Performance tests Should I change my browser to Google Chrome? Should I buy RegCleanPro? $29.95. I did a free run, & it said I had over 1,200 errors. Oh, what is buffering, & why would my computer do it? Thank you for any & all help or ideas. i'm so glad you do what you do.
  5. I watch webinars with gotomeeting.com, citrix.com & other providers. Often, the audio is slow & sounds robotic. Sometimes it speeds up, like caffeinated munchkins. Is there anything I can tweak? I have Windows 7, & Internet Explorer 64 bit & 32 bit. I don't seem to have the problem at wi-fi places. At home, I have satellite internet, whatever the basic service/speed level is. Should I ask for help from my satellite co? Should I pay for faster/upgraded service? Thanks for any ideas!
  6. I want to order something. The order page does NOT have the padlock sign. I clicked on "Safety" in my upper right screen. It gives info re the site's Certificate. In Certificate box, it says: "This connection to the server is encrypted." Does that that info that I provide to the site (my credit or debit card) is encrypted? Do I have any protection if I order from this site?
  7. Scottie again, I just watched a webinar that I've been trying to watch for a week!!!!!!! Thank you, it finally works!!!!! It (webinar) was going to be taken down tomorrow night. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!!! You people are wonderful!!!!!!!
  8. Scottie again. Re Reply #6 & your next post. Thank you. I think I can do that. That's what I was just asking, so ignore my last question. I guess these problems are humongously simple to a techie, but, for machines that are supposed t o be so sophisticated & automated, they sure have a lot of non-automated things that can trip up ordinary people. I thought downloaded meant "ready to go". It would have been tremendously helpful if Adobe had a message/menu box somewhere in the download process that gave me some choices & some idea of what needed to be done to get the thing running. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for your patience. You've probably saved my insurance a bundle on nuthouse commitment costs..........
  9. This is Scottie. Re Replly #4: what do you mean, "click the thing in your download"? Where? Go to 'Computer" in my controls? Then what? Click what?
  10. The message that pops up, when I try to view a webinar, is that I need Adobe Flash Player 9 or better. I haven't gotten messages about any other software than that.
  11. When I downloaded it, was I supposed to choose Save or Run? I chose Save. Is that part of the problem now? Sorry if these are dumb problems, but, like Schultz, "I know NOTHING".
  12. Adobe Flash Player, 10.2, I think. It's what Adobe says they have a preview version of, for 64-bit Internet Explorer. They call their preview version Square.
  13. I made an earlier post about Flash Player Square. With geeksoup's help, I got it to download, I think. It shows on my downloads. But, when I try to watch a webinar, a message says that I have no Flash Player, & it wants to download it. That's the problem I've had for a week. Do I need to do something to enable it? Thank you, geeksoup, for your help so far, but it seems that we're not there yet. Sigh.............
  14. I can't get Adobe Flash Player to download. 1st thing I tried. I have/use Internet Explorer 64-bit. Adobe says they have a preview version, called Square, of Flash Player for 64-bit systems, but I can't find anything to click on to download it. 2nd thing I tried. I also have Internet Explorer 32-bit. Adobe said I could use it to down load their Flash Player version for 32-bit IE. When I click on IE (32-bit) it flashes up on the screen & then goes away. So I can't download to it. What can I do? Thank you.
