Administrators Nathan Posted February 27, 2012 Administrators Posted February 27, 2012 Anyone ever seen these setup with old floppy drives? It's cool how they can make them do this. Doom Any My Favorite - Star Wars - Imperial March Quote

SpikeTheLobster Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Pfff, amateurs. This is the REAL Imperial March: And this is just so brilliant that all else becomes unimportant: Quote
SpikeTheLobster Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 And this... well, this is quite simply the most awesome thing ever. A ZX Spectrum playing music and emulating VOICE... truly a work of genius (and someone who has far too much time on their hands): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xxz630u7YlQ Music starts just over a minute in (the first bit is simply to show it's really loading and running a program). Quote
bryce12 Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 It looks amazing, people are so innovative. I remember one of my friends used to create small programs in C that would play music when it was run. I don't know how he did that but the results were always amazing. Quote
Administrators Nathan Posted March 7, 2012 Author Administrators Posted March 7, 2012 Haha, well if that goes here, then so does this Nathan, Fallace and ChuckTesta 3 Quote
ChuckTesta Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 ^^^OMG! HAHAHA, i'm so taking that image! that's awesome. Quote
digitalink01 Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Wow! Is this the future of music? How's this even possible? Has science gone that far? haha. Kidding aside, these are very creative. I wish I were the one who came up with this. Nah-who am I kidding. I can't even do HTML properly. LOL. Quote
CHiLL Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 The Imperial March video has to be my favourite. It's fantastic. Quote
kreso93 Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Hahaha, that's awesome. I didn't knew that you can do that with floppy drives. Geez, I remember we used them in schools up until '08 lol Quote
Administrators Nathan Posted March 20, 2012 Author Administrators Posted March 20, 2012 08? Ever heard of a thumb drive? lol! Quote
kreso93 Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Well, they use old PCs in schools, so floppy disks were still in use. I mean, 3.5mbs are enough to save couple of word files and things like that, and they were pretty cheap, so during a test we would just give the floppy disk to the professor and he would evaluate our work/test or whatever we were doing. Damn, I miss them, gonna install a floppy drive in my PC now xD Quote
Administrators Nathan Posted March 20, 2012 Author Administrators Posted March 20, 2012 I still have a usb one, but never have any use for it anymore. Quote
kreso93 Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 You just gave me an idea to check the stores if they're selling floppy discs still. I don't recall seeing them in stores for a while now, maybe they've quit selling them. Quote
JayRSD Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Wow the picture of the guy with the floppy is really funny. I enjoyed those pictures. I feel sorry for the next generation that will have no idea what floppy drives are ! Quote
KevinN Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Looks very cool. Too bad I don't have like 5-10 leftovers that I could use. Quote
tosaytheleast Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 I have two or three in my cabinet I guess so I cam make use of it. I have never imagined some people can actually do that. Amazing how humans are very creative. Quote
Jessi Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 I love them. <3 Here's the most recent one I've seen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=enZ4P7Azxys It greatly delights the old school Doctor Who fanboys/girls. Quote

psufootball Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Ah just seeing the words floppy drive brings back some good memories haha. I always liked floppy discs, they felt satisfying to use, certainly more so than thumb drives or SD cards. I mean comeon, they had an eject button. Now the only time you see that is with CD/DVDs, it doesn't look as cool. Quote
