bryce12 Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Hey guys, I'm sure you already know a few programming languages. But which programming language do you wish to learn and why? Personally I would like to learn Ruby on Rails as soon as possible. What about you? Bryce Quote
Brandon Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 As I love scraping and word manipulation I have had my eyes on the old SNOBOL language for a while now. It has some really cool features when it comes to searching in texts. Aside from that I wanted to learn ANSI C. When I get the time I will definitely learn C and/or C++. Quote
Shole Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 I want to learn C and C++ so i would be able to make a game I would love to create games Quote
bryce12 Posted March 5, 2012 Author Posted March 5, 2012 Yeah C and C++ are great programming langauges. I forgot to mention, I also want to learn how to create bots by using ubot. There is a great demand of all kinds of bots on the internet so it would be fun to learn how to create them. Quote
DevilKid Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 I really want to learn PHP and then go on to learn MySQL and things related to those. I have been learning PHP for past few months and I think I am half way through learning it but I still need some understanding of where to apply things. Quote
dojo Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I'd like being able to learn Php, but I seem to be too dumb for this. I can understand SOME stuff and then, when I should implement any code (even the smallest) I just can't do it. I have tried twice to start learning, but maybe I don't have the 'drive' either. I earn a very decent living as a web designer (was sometimes paid better than the programmers we worked with), I run my network of sites and earn money from this too, so it's not such a big deal. Maybe I'll just hire a programmer, when I'll need custom code, than waste months of billable hours trying to learn something I seem to not be too smart to Quote
thefellow3j Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 I would LOVE to learn MDX. I've been wanting to get into some BI development for some time, starting with OLAP analysis and data mining. I'm learning SQL Server Analysis Services right now. Quote
GeeOne Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 I don't know any programming. But would like to earn php, as my forum has php programming. G! Quote
Godric Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 I too don't know any programming besides basic HTMl and CSS. I would really love to know about Python and PHP. Could anyone post tutorials? Quote
tronik Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I am currently trying to learn C++ and its easier then I expected. I also want to learn graphics programming(direct X) so I can learn to make quality games. Quote
mrnothersan Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I want to learn more of PHP, but the language I want to learn from scratch is definitely Java (using Eclipse) and developing Android applications Quote
kreso93 Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 I really want to learn C++, but unfortunately I don't have any free time to do it at the moment. Other than that, C# would be cool to learn as well. Quote
TheMightyEddy Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 I actually really want to learn Visual basic as I've seen many people create very cool things with it. Quote
plprodigy Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 I am currently trying to learn C++, and HTML/CSS/XML and have purchased several books to this effect. I want to learn C++ because I would love to be a programmer and create games someday, specifically iOS apps. HTML/CSS/XML because I would also would like to create my own websites and do not want to rely on the various tools available that can are used to build websites, rather, I would like to build everything myself from the ground up, so that I can have more control over the design and functional elements of my website. Thanks man. I was looking for something like this. I want to know how to make administration panels for websites, because I would like to be a website designer and I managed to learn the visual part of website building. Now it's time to start learning what's under the hood. Quote

JHTech100 Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 I really want to learn the C family of languages. Being able to develop iOS apps would be awesome! Plus, C is one of the more powerful languages around, and some languages, like PHP, are built out of C. I am just annoyed by some of C's syntax. It makes huge, huge use of symbols from my initial impressions. I am used to semi-English-like programming (PHP) which have understandable functions. C, however, has abbreviated them super heavily. I am learning it later this year in school, if I remember correctly. Quote
TheMightyEddy Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 I also want to learn Java as many people are using Java nowadays and I've seen pretty cool projects with them. Quote
Engo Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 I also want to learn Java. There are so many platforms which support Java. It runs on Windows, Linux, Mac, Android, IOS and I think on much other Systems too, so it would be very useful. As far as I know there are also many languages like Visual Basic, which are based on Java. Quote
Talk Tech News Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 I am currently trying to learn C++ and its easier then I expected. I also want to learn graphics programming(direct X) so I can learn to make quality games. I have done some C++ and would also like to learn graphics programming, making games is great fun and a great way to learn a language. Quote
CityGirlLuv Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 C, C++, PHP, Ruby on Rails, and Python. Quote
Thomas Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 I know small amounts of C++, VB and PHP but all of them aren't strong enough to brag that I am fluent in any of them (I couldn't even pass as anything more then a novice). I guess i would just like to learn one of them enough to actually be able to do something with them.... O the choices though! Quote
ChuckTesta Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Thomas, what are you looking to do? Are you into writing programs? Into building webpages? Into making games, mobile applications? Quote
