As BT infinity will use fibre optic cables, will anyone be using Virgin Media? 52Mb - fastest in the UK.

 

Must admt got it myself and had no probs with it yet.

Up to 40Mbps downstream, 10Mbps upstream. Well that is for FTTC (fibre to the cabinet) anyone lucky enough to get FTTP (fibre to the premises) then your looking at 100Mbps downstream and I believe around 20Mbps upstream with promise for that to go up.

OMG yeah. I only have a 10Mb connection with Virgin Media.. Unfortunately i mostly only get 5Mb/s in my area and Virgin are bringing out a 100Mb/s Connection this month :)

This is a late post so sorry for bringing it back up but will this stretch to bolsover which is my area or is it just for chesterfield? Fingers crossed it will get to me soon because BT are aweful!

Eventually high speed broadband will be available in most locations in the UK, probably the odd exception such as peak district who are still on dialup or some there's no internet access at all.

I think there rolling it out to major areas and areas with high population density, then they are gonan roll it out to other areas in 2012 and onwards, and yea you can have it laid but I think you need to be in a reasonable distance to a exchange that takes advantage of fibre optics
