Thrill Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Hope TalkTalk get some form of fibre in the next few years! Quote
Der Walker-Kaiser Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Does anyone know what sort of sppeds we'll be looking at when TalkTalk and BT get the fibre optic lines installed? Quote
Shaunno Posted November 25, 2010 Author Posted November 25, 2010 Up to 40Mbps downstream, 10Mbps upstream. Well that is for FTTC (fibre to the cabinet) anyone lucky enough to get FTTP (fibre to the premises) then your looking at 100Mbps downstream and I believe around 20Mbps upstream with promise for that to go up. Richio Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 OMG yeah. I only have a 10Mb connection with Virgin Media.. Unfortunately i mostly only get 5Mb/s in my area and Virgin are bringing out a 100Mb/s Connection this month Quote
Famous Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 This is a late post so sorry for bringing it back up but will this stretch to bolsover which is my area or is it just for chesterfield? Fingers crossed it will get to me soon because BT are aweful! Quote
Thrill Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Eventually high speed broadband will be available in most locations in the UK, probably the odd exception such as peak district who are still on dialup or some there's no internet access at all. Quote
Famous Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Would be good if they got fibre layed in bolsover area Quote
Thrill Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 You can have it layed I think, but it's very very expensive. Quote
Famous Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 i think its something daft like £100 a metre or something like that Quote
Shaunno Posted January 15, 2011 Author Posted January 15, 2011 I think there rolling it out to major areas and areas with high population density, then they are gonan roll it out to other areas in 2012 and onwards, and yea you can have it laid but I think you need to be in a reasonable distance to a exchange that takes advantage of fibre optics Quote
