Thrill Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (Free and paid for version) Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is considered to be the next step in the detection and removal of malware. In our product we have compiled a number of new technologies that are designed to quickly detect, destroy, and prevent malware. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware can detect and remove malware that even the most well known anti-virus and anti-malware applications fail to detect. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware monitors every process and stops malicious processes before they even start. The realtime protection module uses our advanced heuristic scanning technology which monitors your system to keep it safe and secure. In addition, we have implemented a threats center which will allow you to keep up to date with the latest malware threats. Spyware Terminator (Free) Millions of users worldwide rely on Spyware Terminator, winner of many awards and high ratings from industry experts and users. Its free comprehensive protection is comparable to competitors' paid versions! Spybot Search & Destroy (Free) Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer. Spybot-S&D can also clean usage tracks, an interesting function if you share your computer with other users and don't want them to see what you have been working on. And for professional users, Spybot-S&D allows you to fix some registry inconsistencies and extended reports. Windows Defender Windows Defender is software that helps protect your computer against pop-ups, slow performance, and security threats caused by spyware and other unwanted software by detecting and removing known spyware from your computer. Windows Defender features Real-Time Protection, a monitoring system that recommends actions against spyware when it's detected, minimizes interruptions, and helps you stay productive. The benefits of installing Windows Defender include: * Spyware detection and removal * Improved Internet browsing safety * Protection against the latest threats Windows Defender is enhanced by SpyNet, a community that brings Windows Defender users together to identify and share information about spyware. This community reports potential threats identified by the Windows Defender real-time system agents to the SpyNet servers, which catalog and update the system to help protect you from new spyware threats. SUPER Antispyware (Free and paid for version) SUPERAntiSpyware Professional features our highly advanced Real-Time Protection to ensure protection from installation or re-installation of potential threats as you surf the Internet. Used in conjunction with our First Chance Prevention and Registry Protection, your computer is protected from thousands of threats that attempt to infect and infiltrate your system at startup or while shutting down your system. Advanced Detection and Removal * Detect and Remove Spyware, Adware, Malware, Trojans, Dialers, Worms, KeyLoggers, HiJackers, Parasites, Rootkits, Rogue Security Products and many other types of threats. * Light on System Resources and won't slow down your computer like many other anti-spyware products. Won't conflict with your existing anti-spyware or anti-virus solution! Real-Time Protection * Real-Time Blocking of threats! Prevent potentially harmful software from installing or re-installing! * First Chance Prevention examines over 50 critical points of your system each time your system starts up and shuts down to eliminate threats before they have a chance to infect and infiltrate your system. * Schedule either Quick, Complete or Custom Scans Daily or Weekly to ensure your computer is free from harmful software. TheMightyEddy Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 To be honest, I find Malwarebytes Pro the most efficient and most lightweight program to remove and detect malware ever. Zacko, merlyn73 and CityGirlLuv 3 Quote
kreso93 Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 I used Windows Defender. It's good, but it can't compete to serious tools like Kaspersky. Quote
Godric Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 I used Windows Defender. It's good, but it can't compete to serious tools like Kaspersky. You are missing the point. Malware bytes is for malware and kaspersky is for viruses. Kasperesky isnt that good with malwares. In that case malwarebytes comes in the top rank. Quote
CityGirlLuv Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 I love MalwareBytes and can't see myself without ever using it again. It's definitely helped get rid of things that even my antivirus at the time couldn't get rid of. I believe it was AVG at the time that I had used. Now I'm with Avast! and I use it in conjunction with MalwareBytes. Quote
TheMightyEddy Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 And also, if you're running on a Windows OS, you can try out this tool made by Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/security/pc-security/malware-removal.aspx Quote
Administrators Nathan Posted May 7, 2012 Administrators Posted May 7, 2012 And also, if you're running on a Windows OS, you can try out this tool made by Microsoft: http://www.microsoft...re-removal.aspx Never seen this before. Quote
psufootball Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Malwarebytes is fantastic and I use it on all of my computers. Another good free anti-virus is Avira. Quote
TheMightyEddy Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Never seen this before. I mean why wouldn't you use it if it's made by Microsoft... right? lol Quote
tosaytheleast Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 (edited) To be honest, I find Malwarebytes Pro the most efficient and most lightweight program to remove and detect malware ever. Yup I have tried Malwarebytes Pro also and it is perfect! I have been using it for two years and it gets the job done always. there is just one malware that it could npt removed that is fixed by combofix software but after that, no malware have ever get a chance to rule my PC. Jessi Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Malware Bytes is my favorite. <3 It has always cleaned up things that eve other programs didn't catch, so now I don't often even bother with running anything else. Adaware used to be really good, too, but I can't speak for them currently. I haven't used them in quite a while. Quote
xtinguish Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 I personally like malware bytes and este online scanner. Those two are the ones I use to clean peoples computers. Quote
renusuke Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 I have a Microsoft Essentials and it is simply on of the best anti-malware softwares, lag-free and do not consume much of my memory. Quote
CHiLL Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 I have a Microsoft Essentials and it is simply on of the best anti-malware softwares, lag-free and do not consume much of my memory. That's more of an anti-virus though, rather than a pure spyware/malware remover. It can also miss malware that these catch. Quote
merlyn73 Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 For passive protection, I like to use Microsoft Security Essentials because of it's low memory footprint. But as far as active scanners / removal tools, I have not found anything better than Malwarebytes. If run in Safe Mode with the System Restore functionality turned off in Windows, it can even get rid of those .32SmitFraud viruses (the fake anti-virus trojans) and still leave enough of the OS in tact that a quick run of the System File Checker will get you right back in the game. sumicool7 Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 I use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (free version) and its really the best solution for malware removal I have noticed that sometimes it also detects and removes malware that are sometimes ignored by some popular Antivirus software's like Kaspersky (KIS). The free version works equally as well as paid version though you get some extra functionality with the paid version. Quote
Marc Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Combofix can be usefull if you are extremely infected. Kinda like your "brute force" of malware removal LOL http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix Quote
SwitchCase Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Malwarebyes + SuperAntispyware = Epic. Everyone should have both. If Malwarebytes misses, then there's SuperAntispyware to the rescue. I think there's one software missing here. It's called Emsisoft Anti-malware. It has very good detection rate. But MB and SA combination will do the job. Quote
SwitchCase Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 I forgot to mention HitmanPro. This software is really amazing. It's fast because the database is on the cloud. The detection rate is pretty good too. Quote
metamemory Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 To be honest, I find Malwarebytes Pro the most efficient and most lightweight program to remove and detect malware ever. this is me too, works the best Quote
lstryhrn Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 I love Malware Bytes. I must say its the best one out there. It's a free version and a paid version. The paid version is better but the free one will do the trick as well. Quote
ENO1986 Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 I have Malwarebytes the free one on my PC and it works great for me there is no reason for me to switch software or get the pro version. Quote
XxMotleyCrueXx Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 (edited) To clean up my PC I use Advanced Systemcare, it is effective it works and it is not complicating to use nor does it take forever cleaning your PC and scanning it etc. I love it! Plus it lets you know when your PC has problems. Edited December 25, 2013 by XxMotleyCrueXx Quote
mikelouis Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 This is a good post and it has helped me understand several softwares I did not know. I think from now no more to malware since I have all the tools I need. I will be referring friends to this forum so that we can grow this great forum. Quote
