HDMI vs Component Cables

Hey guise. I'm on the edge of buying a Capture Card, but don't know if there actually is a quality difference between a HDMI cable or a Component/YPbPr (or whatever) cable.

 

I've done a bit of research and come up with mixed results.

 

Anyone provide clarity on this?

On my pc I'm running in 1080 from a dvi cable.  8-)

HDMI is better quality and is just one cable as opposed to three

Component is 6 cables though, not 3..?

 

I can tell the different between AV and HDMI :L

Component are 3 I'm pretty sure, I saw one today infact, unless there's more than one type.

Yes, that's the other 3 of the standard 3, I believe. You can see the other 3 above them.

Oh, okay. So would I see any noticeable quality between them? And does component do HD?

A componant cable can carry an HD signal however i believe it is an analog signal, so i dont really know whether they will be any major difference in picture quality

And is that 720 or 1080 HD?

both it carries a resolution from 480i to 1080p
