DarkGizmo Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 What made you choose to go with IPB? I've been using it since the beginning (1.x) and loved it. I tried other platforms and always found IPB to be the fastest and most reliable platform. Not to mention it's super easy to customize and the support and staff at IPS is top-notch. Unlike the other providers who only seem to want the customer's money without actually providing any real support *cough* vB *cough*. I used the other competitors in the past and always ended up back on IPB. Plus their add-ons are fantastic. My entire site is powered by IPS addons. Quote
Administrators Nathan Posted February 17, 2012 Administrators Posted February 17, 2012 Well I've used several different forum software's in past, SMF, vBulletin, and IP.Board. SMF - was nice since it was free, but lacked many features I wanted. vBulletin - Was better than SMF and fun to learn, but the back end was old and junky looking. It had no functionality problems, but the skins that were available for it mostly sucked. IP.Board - Worked perfectly and there are great skins available for it. My favorite thing about the back end is the ability to do a real-time search for any keyword. So if you can't find a setting you are looking for you just do a quick search and it will find it. Quote
DarkGizmo Posted February 18, 2012 Author Posted February 18, 2012 Yes. That is actually one of the many reasons I switched from vBulletin. The backend felt like it belonged back in 2001. I think that was the last time they changed the backend in any way to be honest. Where as IP.Board's admin panel changed with each major version (1.x, 2.x, 3.x) and they are always trying to find ways to improve the software, not just the backend but everything overall and I agree the real-tme search feature was a feature we've needed for awhile. It truly makes life so much easier when trying to find something within the admin CP or if you just need to get to a page or setting quicker and in less clicks. Quote

Shole Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 IPB is a great software I had the honor to work for an IPB forum as an admin for 6 months but I never could actually afford it myself. It is simple to use , has great themes and looks really professional. I enjoyed all the 6 months working with this software . I wish in some time soon I will afford it and get it for one of my forums until then I will use SMF for all my forums needs. Quote
Administrators Nathan Posted February 24, 2012 Administrators Posted February 24, 2012 Yeah it's a great product, I have 3 licenses now and 2 IP.Content ones. Quote
Creaky Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Tried the deom's of Xenforo & IPB before purchase. Preferred the way IPB worked overall so went for that. Quote
Pete T Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 I have 3 x Standard License 2 x Perpetual License, 2 x Blog, 2 x Gallery, 1x Download, 1x Content, 1x Nexus so yeah big fan of IPS did have 6x Standard License but well 3 now expired. Quote
dojo Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Used it years ago. It was OK, until spam hit me. I couldn't install an anti-spam plugin, there was none back then. So, I closed down the forums and decided to use VB instead, even if I never loved it too much. It did the job. Now, even if IPB have done a tremendous job with the new platform, I just don't trust it anymore. I lost an over 20K posts forum because of their poor anti-spam plugin offer, will never go through this again. Quote
