Connecting DS to internet problemo

So I wanted to connect my DS to the internet WITHOUT having to temporarily shut down security on my router. Just ahead of time, I can connect to the internet with my DS, its just that the DS only interfaces with WEP and this is too weak a setting to leave on my router...

 

So I thought, hey, why don't I make my Wireless USB adaptor an Access Point for my DS? This wireless adapter is plugged into a computer which has a wired internet connection. So I made an Ad-Hoc network with WEP and all. Tried connecting with my DS and got error code 51301. Read up on the net and it turns out that the DS cannot connect to Ad-Hoc networks.

 

So for those of you who are familiar with this situation, how do I make the USB adaptor compatible with the DS?

 

PS: Yes I have tried bridging the 2 connections etc. and no I don't want to buy the Nintendo USB adaptor, too expensive to be honest.

I tried looking into this problem a couple of years ago when my sister bought a DS. I refused to lower the security from WPA2 to WEP. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find a workaround, nor from a bit of research does it seem possible.

When I connected my sisters DS to my router I used WPA2 security, but also I made sure that the MAC address of the device was in the exceptions list for connecting. Then when you connect just put your WPA2 password on the DS and it should connect.

I'm pretty sure that you'll be able to find a Wireless Adaptor somewhere there for cheap enough.

Newer DS Console's have support for WPA, however, when using an older game, WEP will have to be used, as both the Console and the Game have different connectivity support I believe.
