What Registrar Do You Use?

So who is your favorite registrar? Have any horror stories of some we should stay away from?

The only one I use is GoDaddy, all my domains are kept there.

In the past I've used NameCheap, and a few others I forget. The only reason I even used them at all was to get a domain I bought transferred to me then I transfer out to my GoDaddy account.

Get over 25 domains on GoDaddy and they let you buy domains going forward for $7 bucks :)

GoDaddy I'm sure are the King of domains. Used 1&1 in the past (steer clear, horrible customer support, pricey and an awful interface.. also, a pain to transfer out!). 123-reg.co.uk are very good too!

I used to buy them from GoDaddy but now I use Namecheap. The biggest advantage of Namecheap is that they offer a free Whois Guard with every new domain registration. Plus I hate the marketing techniques adopted by GoDaddy, they try to cross-sell 10 different things when you are trying to buy just one.

I don't mind GoDaddy trying to upsell their products mainly because it makes me think about the strategy I'm going to use for each domain purchase, plus they give me give an easy No Thanks button to bypass them

I use godaddy to register all of my domains. It's just so quick and easy to get a domain through them and I've been happy with their service. I wouldn't use their hosting but as a domain registrar they are fine. I often get coupons for 30% off or something similar so I try my best to renew my domains and such at the right time as a good way of saving money. :)

I'm on boobs... er... GoDaddy, too. About 40 domains at the moment, I think. They're cheap and easy (and I used tucows once and really regretted it).

I considered leaving when the whole SOPA thing came along but that was just typical GoDaddy crap: they're so focussed on breast-based advertising that they don't really consider the knock-on effects of anything else they say or do. As soon as people pointed out they were being retarded, they realised and back-pedalled. No big deal. I've seen far worse decisions online that have been totally ignored.

Have used Godaddy and then almost lost a domain to them (they block your domain name after 14 days and ask for $:) redemption fee. Moved the domain to namecheap and then all others step by step. NAmecheap are way better than GD, simpler checkout process (they don't try to trick you into buying all kinds of 'extras'), their admin panel is nice and easy to use. Not to mention my new domains redirect to my server in 2-3 minutes, i don't have to wait for hours to get a change.

I use Namecheap. They've got a straight-forward control panel that allows you to manage everything you need with ease. Their support is decent, they're always on live chat which is a huge bonus. Not sure whether they have a multi-domain discount though. I've got about 25+ domains in my Namecheap account.

I have always used Namecheap with the only reason really being is because it's cheaper. I know it's not much but the way I look at it is if you can save a couple of quarters why not do it? Aside from their cheap prices they also have great customer services, I dont really know why so many people like GoDaddy so much when they can be using NameCheap for a dollar less; I mean I can see why if you want to use their host but why else?

I use them b/c I get the domains at approx $7 a piece and $6 on renewals.

I also have hosting so just makes sense to keep it all centralized, with their awesome customer service they have earned my business.

I'm actually surprised by you all liking GoDaddy. They were firm supporters for the SOPA, which is why Wikipedia decided to finally leave them. Do you all, as site owners, no care about SOPA?

This is the main reason I've left godaddy. I currently have 52 domain names with godaddy but ever since I saw their stance on SOPA, my last 4 registrations were with my new Namecheap account.

Namecheap and Name.com for Whitehat ones and Internetbs for the not so whiteones.

I dont like godaddy becuse of their support towards SOPA. I wouldnt keep a domain on a registrar who can take domains down without asking me and notify me later.

No thanks, i am good with others.

Just figured a neat little trick for GoDaddy, for those who use it.

Log in. Search for the stuff you want. Put it in your cart.

Close the window.

Now go away for a day or two - GoDaddy will email you with a money-off voucher to complete the purchase. I just got one for 30% off (before taxes, unfortunately). :)

I use Namecheap. I like them because they are local (for me), very good customer services, and an user friendly interface. Most of my domains are here. I have a few at GoDaddy. I only buy from them when they have a .99 cent or $1.99 domain sale. I always transfer the domains to Namecheap. It only cost me at $4.99 to transfer and I get free whois protection too.
