Hardison Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Just figured a neat little trick for GoDaddy, for those who use it. Log in. Search for the stuff you want. Put it in your cart. Close the window. Now go away for a day or two - GoDaddy will email you with a money-off voucher to complete the purchase. I just got one for 30% off (before taxes, unfortunately). GoDaddy has changed. They were notorious for holding domains that people searched for or nearly completed. It seems like they maybe cleaning up thier act. Quote

Nice, quite a unique little feature imho. I don't think Namecheap do this, however they do always have promotional codes active. Quote
Collin1000 Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 I'm with Namecheap, always have been for as long as I can remember really. I did have two or three old domains on GoDaddy, but like many of you, I transferred out after the SOPA/PIPA backlash. And the elephant thing, too. Quote
DevilKid Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 I've used Namecheap for most of my domains because first of all, they support unverified Paypal addresses - which I have. Second of all, they have quite a good support and finally, they are just better than everyone else IMO. Quote
ford1001 Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 I have only ever used NameCheap for purchasing domains. Might look at alternatives next time though Quote
Zacko Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 After the whole SOPA disaster, I've dropped GoDaddy as my favourite registrar and picked up Namecheap.com, their prices are reasonable, especially with the coupon SOPASUCKS. CityGirlLuv 1 Quote

Like you, I used to be with GoDaddy but I dropped them for something else they did before the SOPA disaster. I use to be with Name.com and Namecheap.com but now I'm with Fabulous Domains and plan on sticking with them for the longest time! Quote
JHTech100 Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 For me it is either Namecheap or my web host (and whoever they register domains with!). I think GoDaddy has lost me by their SOPA support and many of the horror stories around them. I don't need my domain auctioned up randomly for GD's benefit. My decision is made: non-GoDaddy. Quote
Irr Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 I used to use name.com, but I moved to namecheap last year. It's so much better, and their control panel is really nice and user friendly. They also update the DNS very fast, which for me is a really good thing. I'm always changing my servers. Quote
Administrators Nathan Posted May 6, 2012 Author Administrators Posted May 6, 2012 DNS is not at the registrar... If you update your DNS it has to propagate through DNS servers all around the world. Quote
TheMightyEddy Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Namecheap for the win! Wanna know why? It's reliable, quality is good, and best of all, it's super cheap! Quote
Fallace Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 I like namecheap. Good pricing, and quality service. I hate the way that GoDaddy attempts to upsell you on every possible service they offer. It's just annoying. Quote
psufootball Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 The first I ever used was 1&1 but they had HORRIBLE support and were a pain in the butt to cancel out of. Since then I have used enom and GoDaddy. GoDaddy was cheaper. Enom has a better interface. Though I think judging by the good customer responses I may go with Namecheap next time. Quote
KevinN Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 I got a couple of domains at Namecheap. I like them so far. Quote
JackClarke Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 Namecheap is the best one I've come across so I use it. It has a really user friendly setup and great staff there to support you. The only reason I've ever used anyone else is because GoDaddy has some very good deals on domains but their public image is awful so I'd choose to avoid them most of the time. Quote
ljepilo Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 I use Namecheap for domains. They seem amazing, and have always been fantastic for me. S.O. Price Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Sounds like namecheap.com is the general consensus! Guess who will be also checking them out?! That's right. Me. I bought a couple of names at 1&1 because there were cheap. I didn't like all the add-ons at GoDaddy.com. Haven't really tried to do anything yet at 1&1. I know someone here said they had trouble with them. Hope I don't have the same problems at some point. Quote

I used them the very first time I bought hosting and, to cut a long story short, I am not going to use their service again. Ever. Quote
