Yeah, you're not actually getting 4G* speeds. ATT has 4G (similar to LTE for Verizon and WiMax for sprint) but they don't have it for the iphone yet. The only Apple product right now to support it is the new iPad.

It's just a marketing ploy as others have stated.I wonder if we'll actually get 4G speeds via a firmware update? I don't think so because wouldn't the device need 4G bands inside the phone? I doubt the iPhone 4S has them? So it'd require a nw handset all together for 4G speeds wouldn't it?

I didn't think I was really getting it, b/c as you say Dark, the 4s hardware isn't 4G.

Yeah. Unless Apple slipped a 4G band in the device and didn't mention it, which I highly doubt. I don't think the iPhone will have true 4G until the next version, which will more then likely be the iPhone 5.

Yupp. This summer look for the next iPhone. :)

They'll probably call it, "The New iPhone" and it will have 4G speeds... which is amazing! in my area, it's about 30 meg down and 5mb up. Not too shabby!

I dont rely on 4G speeds, it doesn't really do much IMO.

But yeah, I guess it looks good.

Say what? Do you even have a 4g device? If you did... you wouldn't be saying this. It blows the sox off of 3g.

Well I'd hate for them to release a new iPhone so soon after releasing the 4S. I just upgraded to the 4S if they were going to release the iPhone 5 this summer I would've waited! Dammit! :)
