ChuckTesta
Im actually really excited, it appears vbulletin has acquired the mobile app company forum runner. This is awesome for us mobile app users. The unfortunate thing with vbulletin is you have to pay for their mobile app and it's soooo limited! This acquisition will be a great step into the correct direction for their mobile app. They acquired the company on march 12. I'm wondering when the next release of the mobile app will take place, and what updates it will hold. EllaHalligan
I use vBulletin with their blogging and CMS modules, but I didn't see the value in the mobile app (limited funds and it didn't seem to do a whole lot). I'll be keeping an eye on this to see if it becomes something worth plunking down the cash for! Well, actually, I'll have to have the cash to plunk down first, but I'm working on that part. I'm still really trying to learn how to best integrate the CMS and forum pieces.
ChuckTesta
CMS is amazing on vbulletin. Now as good as wordpress, but it's easy to promote articles. That's what i do, make threads and promote as needed. It populates nicely this way.
Administrators Nathan Posted March 17, 2012 Administrators Share Posted March 17, 2012 I didn't like forum runner last time I used it, seemed clunky and lacking features.
mrnothersan
Personally, I don't like vBulletin, so it would be good to see what they do with this. It would be good if it's modern. Personally, I think vBulletin looks old, and not like IP Board which is a modern forum software.
crumblepie
I'm a big fan of vBulletin and I see this acquisition as a good thing. They are looking for ways to improve, which means the end is nowhere near for vB as some people claim! ChuckTesta
TehPhantom
I never liked forum apps anyways. Nor vBulletin in my opinion. Since 4.0, vBulletin is basically trash.
ChuckTesta
^^^How is it trash? 3.8 Vs. 4.0 is a huge difference... and def for the good. Do you own a vb site?
Godric
I think Vb 4 is having a lot of issues. I am on some forums who have updated to the latest version and there are alot of bugs too. And I dont really like the Like or Blog feature. The older thanks and rep system was better IMO.
bryce12
I like vBulletin so I am excited about this acquisition. Hope they add more features to forum runner and make it robust and user friendly. I haven't used it much but now that it is backed by vBulletin, I'd be more than willing to use it.
