Has anyone here used osTicket before?

It's an extremely easy to use and install help desk solution. Best of all it's FREE.

I've used it for a few months now and wow, so much easier then keeps tasks down on a piece of paper.

I really don't use it for a help desk solution, but just to track tasks I need to complete. If you are in need of something like this, I would def check it out.

I've used it before as a ticketing system, but found that it put all confirmations and stuff in spam boxes. I didn't really like the interface either, I found it hard(ish) to use and wouldn't use it on a long term basis. Others might think differently though

That's strange did you not use an internal email for notifications?

What did you end up using in place of it?

Never used it, but a new hosting company i was trying out used it, at first I thought it was a cheap solution by a cheap company, but the way it worked was splending.. Better than Hostgators Ticket solution :P

I set up OSTicket for a services company (b2b) and it worked great for them! Its actually a really amazing ticketing system , I used to work in IT and it was better than the support logging system many companies were using (5+ years ago).

It took a little bit to modify the look and feel of OSticket but in the end it was exactly what my client needed.

I once installed OSTicket and configured it for a client. Works good no doubt. But yes, three and a half years back, it wasnt as well documented as it seems to be today. I had a harrowing time setting up the emails and perventing them from landing up in spam. Later found a way out, and changed all emails to gmail ones and removed all instances of any .domainname emails.

Yeah, they have definitely come a long way.

Does anyone know of any free competitors of Osticket that are available? A google search brings up a few, but OSticket is the only web based support ticketing system I've ever implemented.

I've just installed osTicket although it seems interesting and easy to use it does have the massive drawback that it doesn't allow you to register and that you need to use the Ticket ID instead of a password.

Although you never know it might not be that kind of software.
