Godric
This short tutorial will guide you towards adding a domain to a hosting account easily. We have used godaddy and hostgator for example purposes as most people use that. Linking Domain to a Hosting Account 1. Go get the server addresses from the email you got from your hosting account. They will look something like this NS1231112 NS1231113 There will be two of them. Write both of them down. Also write down the login link. 2. Find your email from GoDaddy with your customer number and get the username and password you chose when setting up your domain. 3. Open your internet browser and go to GoDaddy.com (http://godaddy.com) 4. Log in to your account on the right hand side of the screen. 5. Click on "My Account" in the same right-hand side panel. 6. Click on "Domains". 7. Scroll down and click "My Domains". 8. Click in the box for the domain name you want to connect to your hosting account. 9. Click on the icon at the top that says "Name Servers". 10. Clock on the button that says "Custom Name Servers". 11. Delete the old name servers and enter the ones you got from Hostgator. 12. Scroll over and click on "OK". 13. Scroll over again and click on "OK". You are done! Log out of Godaddy. It can take up to 48 hours for your name servers to be up and running, but usually doesn't take that long. It can happen in as short as a couple hours. ( Mine took around 18 hours.) Adding Domain to Hosting Account If the domain name you purchased yesterday is your very first domain name on your Hosting account skip this step. If this is not your first domain name on your Hosting account then follow these steps to connect the new domain to your account. 1. Login to your Hosting account through your cpanel (from the email your hosting provider sent you). 2. About two thirds of the way down the page should be a section called "Domains". The second button over is "Add-On Domains". Click on that button. 3. Type in your new domain name where it says "New Domain Name". Do not put in the "www" that will be added automatically. Start with whatever follows "www". 4. Go down and type in a password you choose twice, then click "Add Domain". 5. The next screen should say your new domain name has been added. Congratulations! you are done with setting up the domain with hosting. Sources: Godaddy Helpbase Ehow Article Nathan

Godric
Thanks everyone. I am a bit busy with my college and Im projects right now. I will update the guide with pictures when I get the time. I would also be glad if anyone can do a video or get some pictures for this guide. Full credits will be given to anyone who does it.
JHTech100
Err - I may try to make a video for you. Since I plan to secure the .net of my domain, it would be fine timing for me. I may not get HD because I don't have stunning tools, but I could at least try to create something. Anything specific you want additionally in the video? ---- Well I worded that confusingly. Maybe "Anything else that you want in the video?" Godric and Nathan

JHTech100
I guess I better get some chores done so that I can earn the money for that domain. I see my dad getting mad and thinking it isn't necessary. Oh well, it's name protection. If I can pass it off as that, I will probably have better luck
ford1001
Pictures in the original post would help alot, but also the video would be great to see it in motion

TheDespite
Nice tutorial! However I think you should consider neutralizing it a tad. Not all of us use / are willing to use GoDaddy, mostly because they were supporting the SOPA cause and who knows what do GoDaddy users support. JHTech100
Nice tutorial! However I think you should consider neutralizing it a tad. Not all of us use / are willing to use GoDaddy, mostly because they were supporting the SOPA cause and who knows what do GoDaddy users support. I guess I never read that first part, hahaha. But I agree that neutralizing it would be good. I think when I do the video I will probably use Namecheap. No way that I will use GoDaddy. I find their business practices quite shady and have read more than enough horror stories to support this idea.

JHTech100
Okay, today I will plan on doing this tutorial. I am renewing my hosting account today and securing two domains. I think Namecheap will be my choice. Sorry, but GoDaddy is just too shady for me.

Godric
http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/7577/cc9.mp4 Can you upload to your Youtube account and post the link here? I will upload the post with your video along with your credits too. Let me know what you want in the credits. If you want URL then I think it should be better to ask Nathan if that is allowed. I have no problem with it though.

JHTech100
I just noticed that the audio seems to have drifted a bit. I know I recorded my voice more in-sync than this. Godric
