Google set to sell Samsung and Asus tablets online

Remember when Google sold its own Nexus One smartphone online? Maybe you're too young. Either way, spies at Google have been chirping details away to the Wall Street Journal so now it looks like Google will sell Samsung, Asus and also Google co-branded Android tablets in its own online store before the year is out.

While the anonoymous sources said that Google wouldn't be selling its own hardware, it wouldn't be too much of a shot in the dark to think that this online retail project might show up around the same time as a budget Nexus tablet built by Asus. Plus Google might throw everything it's got at anyone thinking about buying their first tab with Android Jelly Bean, the next version of its mobile OS, set to land this summer.

Dont know about you guys, but google seems to be in a desperate mood now-a-days.

First they get low Q4 and lose stock value, then they force the G+ updates and now this.

I think they are moving from search to more general markets.lol.

Shame on them then.

Why shame on them? They are a company, their #1 function is to make money. This is something Google is famous for. They expand into a market, see how it works. If the pickings are good, they hang around, if they aren't, they move on. Search won't be king forever. Just in case someone does search better, they've got plenty of backup plans.

I for one hate their domination over the Search market. And they should care about the normal users too. THey say users are their top priority but they dont really follow that in action.

I think it's a good move for the company, though probably not for retail outlets!

Agreed. I was reading an article this past weekend about Best Buy. It seems it's following in the footsteps of CompUSA and Circuit City.

Google is aggressively looking for new markets. A business has to either grow or die.
