SpikeTheLobster Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 This looked like a really intriguing plugin for developing domain names, since it relies on the community to build content (much like a forum, really). I have to admit that I looked at it, put it down and got caught up in other stuff, so I never really looked into it in any detail. Has anyone tried it on a site? How does it "feel"? Is it simple to get going and use? Just thinking ahead and looking at alternatives to basic traffic generation. Quote
Zacko Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Similar to yourself, I've only merely heard of it, looked over the site, and read a review- it's definitely an interesting concept and has potential. If anyone has any true experience with it, I'd want to hear about this myself! Quote
Administrators Nathan Posted April 17, 2012 Administrators Posted April 17, 2012 I'm assuming you are talking about http://buddypress.org/ ? I wouldn't think it would do very well. I mean trying to create your own social media site. My thinking is why would people join when they already get all their updates via Facebook or Twitter? Quote
SpikeTheLobster Posted April 17, 2012 Author Posted April 17, 2012 I saw it as more of a forum-cum-social-blogging thing: a way of running a community on a blog foundation, with WordPress flexibility. It's not really a social media site as most people think of it (though it is in the purest sense) - it's more a way to allow people to have little blogs, post updates, chat and generally do things a bit like a forum but in a different format. Administrators Nathan Posted April 17, 2012 Administrators Posted April 17, 2012 Ah ok, makes more sense now. Looks like it's free, have you downloaded and put up on a site yet? I might throw it up just to check out the features. Quote
SpikeTheLobster Posted April 17, 2012 Author Posted April 17, 2012 I did chuck it on a domain once but it looked like there was a fairly steep setup curve, so I didn't really look into it. I repurposed the domain instead - I was kinda pushed for time and resources. Quote
ChuckTesta Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 It's a great and powerful plugin! If you have a good member base, that would be a good time to roll it out. I wouldn't roll it out on a new site. Just my opinion. I've used it and i like it. Quote
BlackHatClass Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 Here's a unique and very nice concept of using BP: http://easyoutsource.com/ You won't believe it BP. Quote
DarkGizmo Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 This is the first time I'm hearing of Buddypress. Is it a wordpress add-on? sounds like it would be. I might have to look into this further..... Quote
Godric Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 I heard of it, and my friends says its good. I am gonna try it out soon. Here's a unique and very nice concept of using BP: http://easyoutsource.com/ You won't believe it BP. Are all those responses real? Hell I don't even get this amount of application in other freelancer sites. What are the rates? Do you have any experience with them? Quote
Victor Leigh Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 I like to play with Wordpress so I have come across Buddypress. Didn't impress me much. I was thinking that I would do better by setting up a forum to get the job done. Then I clicked on the link to easyoutsource. That opened my eyes to the potential of Buddypress. Now I am going to give it a much closer look. Quote
Godric Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Ok this is my feedback on easyoutsource. I got tons of responses but I hardly got any replies. I think they are mostly bot generated lol. Need to look for a better site, I guess. Quote
SpikeTheLobster Posted May 11, 2012 Author Posted May 11, 2012 That must be a little depressing for the owner: that the site's seen as a great reference for how to use BuddyPress but that it sucks as a work outlet... Quote
