Jessi Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 http://www.bloggingbasics101.com/2012/05/tips-to-get-more-shares-on-facebook/ When Matt’s company looked at several large companies (and we’re talking about millions of Facebook interactions here), they found that the posts with the most interaction were posted at (times are EST) Midnight on Sunday Midnight on Monday 10p Friday 11p Tuesday Interesting! I wonder why Tuesday night ranks up there with those weekend late nights, too. Keep in mind that this is only one study and was specifically in reference to large companies. Your mileage may vary, so just pay attention to your own results. Quote
Grumpy Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 When I market with my Facebook fan pages, I've found that the best times to post are around 2am BST my time. It requires me to stay up into the early hours of the morning, but it's definitely worth staying up for... I mean, the results I get when posting at roughly that time compared to in the daytime for me, it's astonishing the difference. Quote
Jessi Posted May 17, 2012 Author Posted May 17, 2012 What is your main audience, Grumpy? At 2 am there, are you getting British responses....or are you hitting up the US market at that point? Quote
Thomas Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 For those of you that are interested in Facebook/Twitter social media then decently check out HootSuite. It is an amazing program and really would help you out instead of staying up all night. I have actually noticed that when I update my own status that different times do affect the amount of responses I get from it. Quote
LosAngelesLover Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Wow, alright, thanks. I'll definitely try to post at these times on my fan-page. I've noticed an effect like this before. Quote
JackClarke Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 I can understand this. You obviously want to post when people are online and looking at their news feed. If you post and think they'll spot it when they come online then they won't unless they come to your page specifically. I can't understand why a Tuesday at that time would be up there but obviously 'Matt's Company' found that to be the case. Does anyone know of any tools to delay posts? I know that there are plenty out there for Twitter but I don't know about Facebook. Well, there is Social Oomph but to use the Facebook option you have to pay for premium which is like $18 every 2 weeks. Quote

I will try implementing this and see what happens, I'll report back results. Quote

Hmm, doesn't Hootsuite? I know you can manage FB in it....and you can schedule tweets....but I'm not for sure if you can schedule the FB updates in advance with it. Quote
tetutato Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Hmm. My shop targets mostly australians. Would this still work or would I have to post during a different time frame? At the moment, I just post whenever I can. Quote

You might find that it's slightly different if you're marketing toward Australians....maybe they interact more a a couple hours earlier or later or something. It's better to get your messages out there at any time than not at all, though, so don't fret too much. Quote
Hardison Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 This is great information. I'm a bit surprised that there's a lot of activity so late at night (or early morning). There's no way I'm on Facebook at midnight Still, this is definitely worth testing to track results. I'm already a user of Hootsuite, but never considered posting at different times to track response. Sometimes, the simple methods escape me. Quote
Ezekiel Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 I think every country has their own "right time" on advertising/posting on Facebook. Why not follow the examples of big companies. The "Prime Time" would be the best time to post/advertise on Facebook. According to studies, the "Prime Time" start 6pm to 10pm. This is the time when most people are at home, spending time with the family, resting and just chilling out. I suggest you try posting on "Prime Time" and let me know if it worked. Quote

Well if you think about it, for the majority of people, if they work throughout the day and then come home, deal with dinner and kids and spouses, etc.... and -then- they can relax, which pushes it quite late in the night. Then think about all the people who work late shifts or freelance, etc, and their schedules are completely different. When you add it up, around midnight is a pretty relaxing time for a nice chunk of people (even though the rest of us are probably sleeping at that point). Quote
