merlyn73 Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 I was really glad to find this forum as I am beginning my journey into self-taught web development in earnest this month. My name is Aaron, and I am an American expatriate living in Central Costa Rica. I have been in the IT industry since 1995, and I have done just about everything from hardware repairs to level two support for POS systems (my current 9-5). Since 2006, I have been working remotely from my home office at various freelance and long term technical contracts. Being that I am just outside a huge tract of untouched rain forest, the emphasis is very much on the word 'remotely'. I have played a bit with Dreamweaver, and consider myself somewhat competent in basic design. But I really want my knowledge base to increase in regards to this important aspect of our beloved Digital Age. I can probably make a cheesy site for pet owners or a .gif inundated My Little Pony fanboy site, but I really want to be able to make my mark on the internet in a way that will last. So I have loaded up on Lynda.com tutorials and this illustrious forum to help me on my way. I hope no one sighs to much inwardly at the questions I will be throwing out, one of the drawbacks of being self-taught is that alot of the times basic things are missed. In any case, I look forward to a great exchange of knowledge and maybe even some new friends in the process!
Administrators Nathan Posted May 22, 2012 Administrators Posted May 22, 2012 Welcome to the board! Yes when self-taught you can overlook basic things. That's why if I'm new to something I ask A LOT of question
