Do you like to mod your consoles? I just modded my Wii today and now have access to the Homebrew channel. I gotta say it's pretty damn sweet! Really enjoy the freedom the wii offers me now. :D I can play emulators and homebrew made games right on my wii. :D I also have a modded PSP that does pretty much the same thing. :)

Good to hear it was successful.

I've never really looked into it before as I thought you had to disassemble and solder on the board? Assumed there was some high risk involved. Was it worth it?

You CAN do it that way but there's almost always a way to get the same or similar results without soldering. :) It was definitely woth it and it only took about 5 minutes to do. :) If anyone is interested I can post up some links on how it's done. :) Your system should be on version 4.3 though. :)

I've never bothered modding my consoles, I didn't even get my PS2 chipped back in the day. Though I do pirate on the PC, which is effectively the same.

I've never modded my console but I've heard of many who has. I'm not a fan of modding controllers, etc. to have an advantage in game but something like homebrew, that can give you an emulator basically, is awesome.

Have modded both Wii and xbox before now, however tbh never really found it to be of any use as they dont get used enough. Would rather just go out and buy the games every now and then.

I use to mod my systems back when online gaming wasn't such a big deal. Basically, before the days of the PS3 and 360. But now I wouldn't bother with all the constant firmwares, system bricking, and online blocking that goes on.

The hassle isn't worth it.

I modded pretty much every console I have except the PS3 and the Vita. Mostly to get over ridiculous policies such as region locking. The ps2 and the Wii were hardmodded, but then I went and softmodded the wii too for extra compatibility and potential, while my PSP was simply and deliciously softmodded.

Region locking was the main reason for me modding my older systems as well. Some things didn't even need much modding.

Like for example, the SNES only needed those two side pieces inside of it to be cut off in order to play japanese games. And the PS1 only needed a mod chip installed. Then when companies put up protection in their games against the mod chip, All you had to do was either upgrade the mod chip OR have a gameshark with the release code in it.

Wasn't The PSP just the most satisfying thing to mod? :D
