I guess its worth buying now but I dunno a .com it relly depends if you buy them off from a registar the most you hould pay 9$ and if you buy them off someone it depends of the PR and such Quote
Sherlock Posted May 31, 2012 Author Posted May 31, 2012 Yep that's a good offer Shole! It's worth buying some .com domains now just to get a .info free! I'll go check it out and maybe buy some! Quote
fakesky Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Never used them, but I read some bad feedback about their services, I use namecheap, never had any problems with them. Quote
Sherlock Posted May 31, 2012 Author Posted May 31, 2012 I have never used Namecheap! You say there trusty? I'll check them out! Quote
fakesky Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Yep, this company recently outranked godaddy in google. Also alot of people moved to namecheap from godaddy, because of some issues. Quote
Hardison Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 GoDaddy is not my favorite place to buy a domain. I only buy from GoDaddy when they have special deals on domains. They do offer grea deals! I usually transfer them to Namecheap after a few months. Namecheap is my main domain registrar. Quote
merlyn73 Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 I would say that GoDaddy would be a good choice for a beginner who had limited technical knowledge and wanted to just get up and running quickly. What I don't like about them is that they are way overpriced for what they offer, and they never seem to stop wanting to up-sell you SOMETHING. I use ANHosting now, and haven't really looked at any other companies. Their service is a bit more all-inclusive and they offer unlimited domains, bandwidth, storage, and they never bother me to buy more swag. Quote
SpikeTheLobster Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 I use them (exclusively) for domain name purchases because they're incredibly cheap. They always have a sale or discount of some kind running - usually 25% or 30% (though the last one was .coms for $1.40) - and also do bulk purchases and so on. Much, much cheaper than almost any other registrar. When it comes to basic hosting, most companies are pretty much the same. I'm with iPage for the basic shared stuff and they're OK. Usual problems you'd expect on shared hosting, nothing major. I don't use site building services of any kind, so I can't comment on those. I have a VPS with GoDaddy - mostly because they have a nice stepped setup so I can test the waters without coughing up huge piles of cash. Still at the setup stage with that, though, thanks to the disappearing developer (mine, not theirs). We'll see how that goes once it's running properly! The main reason people steer away from GoDaddy is because of their initial support for SOPA. I have yet to use any company whose ethics I trust, so I'm not overly concerned by that. Nathan 1 Quote
Thomas Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 I dislike GoDaddy and all i have with them is a Windows VPS. Quote
Administrators Nathan Posted May 31, 2012 Administrators Posted May 31, 2012 They are the best in my opinion. Quickest support, actually real time and easy to manage. Quote

Th phone support was unable to help me with my problem and then tried to upsell me on other services. They may have changed since the last time I used their services. Truthfully, my experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I am glad that you and many other people have positive experiences with GoDaddy. Quote

I hear this a lot, but what I also hear is the people want the support but are paying for an unmanaged server, go figure. Not saying that was your problem, just one I've heard a lot. Quote

tetutato Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 I moved from GoDaddy to Namecheap and I haven't regret it since. Price is cheaper and GoDaddy supported SOPA... Quote
Victor Leigh Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 Long ago, I wanted to buy a domain from goDaddy because it was offered at a very good price. However I was so confused by all the side offers on the way to the checkout page that I just simply gave up. Somehow their style makes me think of hustling. When I buy something, I just want that something. Not a whole bunch of add-ons. When I saw that Namecheap had an offer on, I gave them a try. Just a hop step and jump to the checkout page. So I bought from Namecheap and I have been buying from Namecheap ever since then. Quote
ridwan sameer Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 Their domains are 13$... And you can get ones from namecheap for only 10$.. But their hosting plans are not that overpriced... Seem Reasonable. A newbie might use them to get domains and hosting from the same place Quote

The better idea is to buy the domain from one company and the hosting from another company. Quote
ridwan sameer Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 Why Would you say that? Is there a specific reason so? Quote
Victor Leigh Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 Why Would you say that? Is there a specific reason so? This has nothing to do with the companies involved. It's just a simple matter of not putting all your eggs in one basket. Like, for example, I buy my domains from Namecheap but I never buy any hosting from them. Quote
SpikeTheLobster Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 Their domains are 13$... And you can get ones from namecheap for only 10$. I've had the opposite experience: every domain name I've bought has been cheaper on GoDaddy and I've never paid even $10 for them. I always get them at about $6 a pop compared to the $12 or more Namecheap quotes. Maybe I'm just lucky or something... but it's consistent luck that's lasted for about 70 domain name purchases. Hmm I figured your answer was going to be that domain registrars don't have as good hosting service as actual hosting companies. (That's what I think anyways) But how can you compare these to putting eggs in one basket? O.o What kind of bad things can happen? Quote

Well as of right now when I check, their offers stands "13$ For a .com/.net/.org" Namecheap is 12$ Now? When i bought mine first it was 10$ :/ Quote

The first name was only $4.99 for 1 year and the 2nd one was $9.99. This was just to grab the names, no other bells and whistles. I've used godaddy.com before, but by the time I got done adding all their 'perks' the price was up more than what I had planned. I think one can do a little more research and find something cheaper than godaddy.. Quote
