I have seen that they offer now a .info for every .com for free. I guess its worth buying now but I dunno a .com it relly depends if you buy them off from a registar the most you hould pay 9$ and if you buy them off someone it depends of the PR and such

GoDaddy is not my favorite place to buy a domain. I only buy from GoDaddy when they have special deals on domains. They do offer grea deals! I usually transfer them to Namecheap after a few months. Namecheap is my main domain registrar.

I would say that GoDaddy would be a good choice for a beginner who had limited technical knowledge and wanted to just get up and running quickly. What I don't like about them is that they are way overpriced for what they offer, and they never seem to stop wanting to up-sell you SOMETHING. I use ANHosting now, and haven't really looked at any other companies. Their service is a bit more all-inclusive and they offer unlimited domains, bandwidth, storage, and they never bother me to buy more swag.

I use them (exclusively) for domain name purchases because they're incredibly cheap. They always have a sale or discount of some kind running - usually 25% or 30% (though the last one was .coms for $1.40) - and also do bulk purchases and so on. Much, much cheaper than almost any other registrar.

When it comes to basic hosting, most companies are pretty much the same. I'm with iPage for the basic shared stuff and they're OK. Usual problems you'd expect on shared hosting, nothing major. I don't use site building services of any kind, so I can't comment on those.

I have a VPS with GoDaddy - mostly because they have a nice stepped setup so I can test the waters without coughing up huge piles of cash. Still at the setup stage with that, though, thanks to the disappearing developer (mine, not theirs). We'll see how that goes once it's running properly!

The main reason people steer away from GoDaddy is because of their initial support for SOPA. I have yet to use any company whose ethics I trust, so I'm not overly concerned by that. :D

I personally had a bad experience with GoDaddy. Th phone support was unable to help me with my problem and then tried to upsell me on other services. They may have changed since the last time I used their services. Truthfully, my experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I am glad that you and many other people have positive experiences with GoDaddy.

I hear this a lot, but what I also hear is the people want the support but are paying for an unmanaged server, go figure.

Not saying that was your problem, just one I've heard a lot.

No, that wasn't it. I have never used any of their hosting services. I am glad that GoDaddy has cleaned up their act. I really am.

Long ago, I wanted to buy a domain from goDaddy because it was offered at a very good price. However I was so confused by all the side offers on the way to the checkout page that I just simply gave up. Somehow their style makes me think of hustling. When I buy something, I just want that something. Not a whole bunch of add-ons.

When I saw that Namecheap had an offer on, I gave them a try. Just a hop step and jump to the checkout page. So I bought from Namecheap and I have been buying from Namecheap ever since then.

Their domains are 13$... And you can get ones from namecheap for only 10$..

But their hosting plans are not that overpriced... Seem Reasonable. A newbie might use them to get domains and hosting from the same place

Not exactly the best idea. I mean buying domains and hosting from the same company. The better idea is to buy the domain from one company and the hosting from another company.

Why Would you say that? Is there a specific reason so?

This has nothing to do with the companies involved. It's just a simple matter of not putting all your eggs in one basket. Like, for example, I buy my domains from Namecheap but I never buy any hosting from them.

I've had the opposite experience: every domain name I've bought has been cheaper on GoDaddy and I've never paid even $10 for them. I always get them at about $6 a pop compared to the $12 or more Namecheap quotes.

Maybe I'm just lucky or something... but it's consistent luck that's lasted for about 70 domain name purchases.

Hmm I figured your answer was going to be that domain registrars don't have as good hosting service as actual hosting companies. (That's what I think anyways) But how can you compare these to putting eggs in one basket? O.o What kind of bad things can happen?

Well as of right now when I check, their offers stands "13$ For a .com/.net/.org"

Namecheap is 12$ Now? When i bought mine first it was 10$ :/

I've just recently registered 2 names at www.1and1.com. The first name was only $4.99 for 1 year and the 2nd one was $9.99. This was just to grab the names, no other bells and whistles. I've used godaddy.com before, but by the time I got done adding all their 'perks' the price was up more than what I had planned. I think one can do a little more research and find something cheaper than godaddy..
