Marc
Has anyone here used any cart software? Im currently using prestashop for a client and not entirely happy with it tbh so looking elsewhere. Would like to know what experience other people have had with carts. The main thing for the one I am building is that it has customisable products. So people can choose fabric, colour, size, extras etc.

Yes, Magento has a big learning curve, but is one of the most powerful ones I've used. Shopper Press runs as a theme/plugin on Wordpress, much easier to setup and use. Isabellas2007
When I am working on the ecommerce shops that I own, I tend to use a hosted site. Then I do not have to worry about getting the extra work done or even worry about how the scripts will work for me when I am doing any type of updates. foxprojects
I agree that Magento comes with a bit of a learning curve, but it's one of the most powerful e-commerce platforms that you'll find. I used it to build a simple clothing store with a few dozen items for a client a while back and it was fine. However, the items didn't have any customization options besides the size. I also used a few WordPress shopping cart plugins to create stores that had just a couple items, but can't remember their names.
