Ram8349 Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 For my laptop, it is 15.6". For my desktop PC, it is a 40" Samsung LCD TV. I use 1920x1080 desktop resolution. Before the TV, it was a 22" LCD monitor. Before that, it was a 24" Trinitron. Earlier, it was a 19" Trinitron. Now I feel the 40" isn't big enough. Bigger is better in this case. I feel I can use a 52" at least. What is your monitor size? What size do you want to get? Quote
Epicfied Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 The laptop I use on occasion is 17" I think. It's plenty big enough for what I use it for. My desktop is a 22". I'm fine with it but a 24" would be nice. I wouldn't mind using a LCD TV but I have a feeling I wouldn't like it after a while. I'm currently building a PC though and I think I'll be upgrading to a 24"... No need for a 40". Quote
Marc Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Currently 2 x 22" monitors..... Ideally would like 2 that just fit on the wall in my livingroom from floor to ceiling and are touchscreen. Have a feeling however that my budget and marriage wont stretch LOL Quote
Administrators Nathan Posted June 5, 2012 Administrators Posted June 5, 2012 I have 2 x 22" monitors currently, although I'm thinking I need a third now. Quote
Marc Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 I have 2 x 22" monitors currently, although I'm thinking I need a third now. See I havent got that far. Im thinking of where I can put a third. After that I will be at your stage LOL Quote
Jessi Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 I just went from having a 42 inch LCD TV screen as my monitor....down to a tiny one from years ago. As in, I think it's probably 15" and is smaller than my laptop's screen! And to make matters worse, it's not even widescreen which is what I've been used to for years now, so it's a huge adjustment for me. I can't wait to get something larger again. ANYTHING larger would be better at this point, heh. Quote
DarkGizmo Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 My desktop is 20 inch and my laptop is 13 inch. I would love my desktop to be 27 to 32 inches and my laptop to be 17. Quote

At first the 40" was hurting my eyes, and I had to keep moving the desk back to stay further away from it. At around 6 feet distance, it's perfect. I just love it when playing first person shooter games on it. Combined with surrounding sound system, I am in heaven. I can never go back to any thing smaller for gaming at least. It is an one way trip, it can only get bigger. Edited June 6, 2012 by Ram8349 Quote
CHiLL Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 At home, I have a 22" 1080p widescreen. My laptop is 15.6". My work computer has 2x 19" widescreen monitors. Quote
ridwan sameer Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Currently Using an all in one PC (not mine) with what i THINK is a 20" Screen. My laptop has a 15" Screen, but i might hook it up on my 40" LED Quote
Victor Leigh Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 What I have now is a 20-incher and that's all I need. Anything bigger will not just mean more money but less efficiency, too, because I will either have to sit further back from the screen or turn my head to read everything. Quote
dexterlablab1 Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 My computer monitor is actually pretty small. Especially compared to the ones you all listed. I only have a 19 inch flat panel. Honestly, even though I can get a bigger one, I figure why go for a new one if the one I have is in working order. When this one finally breaks down, THEN I'll upgrade. Quote
tetutato Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 21.5" here and this is the big as I can go on my desktop space Quote
Jessi Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 21.5" here and this is the big as I can go on my desktop space Pfft! If you ever get to upgrade your monitor size, then I'm sure you can manage to upgrade your desktop space as well, hehe. All it takes is some rearranging! Quote
Marc Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 21.5" here and this is the big as I can go on my desktop space See this is my problem. But the issue you will find is similar to mine. I started the same only being able to fit a similar size screen to your own. And therefore I upgraded my desk and have 2 x 22" now and finding I havent quite got the room for my third. Its a never ending game. Some call it an addition, but I prefer to call it "productivity space" Quote
JimBobIV Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 My laptop's a 12.1" with 1366x768 resolution; my old machine was 15" with the same resolution, but oddly enough i find the smaller one much more comfortable. My desktop's hooked to a 19.1" LCD monitor, and since I like having everything in my face and in reach, I'll probably never go beyond 22 or maybe 24 inches. At some point I need to something with at least 1080p resolution for the desktop, anyways. Quote
Hardison Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 My laptop monitor is 13 inches. I had no problems with that size until I used a desktop with a larger monitor. It think it was 25 inches. Now, I can't wait to get a new computer with big monitor. Quote
The_Melody_Of_Rain Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 My laptop screen is 15.6". It's the perfect size for me really I don't have a need for anything bigger. Quote
JHTech100 Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 My Mac is the mid-2007, so it has a 20-inch display. It's actually not bad... Quote

What do you want to do with such a big screen? Watch movies or play games? Quote
Marc Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 Well I really can't see why you would need a bigger monitor. :/ Ah you see the answer to this is quite simple. Im a child Quote
tetutato Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 Ah you see the answer to this is quite simple. Im a child Yep. The bigger the better. But you can't go too much overboard if you don't have the specs to support higher resolution. Quote
tosaytheleast Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 My laptop has a 17" monitor. I seldom use it because I'm a desktop lover. My desktop is 22" LCD and I think it is already wide enough for me. It is samsung by the way. Quote
Creaky Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 I use one 24" monitor, used to have 2 smaller ones. Quote
