dexterlablab1
Sony is considering not going to Gamescon this year. This is bad because Sega, Nintendo, and THQ have already stated that they won't be participating in Gamescon this year. So if Sony drops out as well, that's 2 of the big three and 2 major third party companies not attending.
Talk Tech News
It will be a shame if Sony does not attend. There does seem to be a change with the big companies. Microsoft for example have said that they will not be going to CES.

tetutato
Lol? Why give Microsoft such an advantage?
ford1001
Lol? Why give Microsoft such an advantage? Sony and Nintendo probably don't think that it is worth the resources going over there, focusing their resources on the larger markets; E3, TGS Etc. dexterlablab1
Lol? Why give Microsoft such an advantage? It's not about that. It's basically because many of these companies are starting to feel these shows are a money drain. Hell, Microsoft isn't even going to be attending CES this year. What does that tell you? dexterlablab1
Ok, I just found out that Sony decided they were going to go to Gamescon at the last minute. It's still sad that Sega, Nintendo, and THQ won't be there though. People look forward to everyone showing off their wares at these events. Marc
End of the day in todays markets anything that is seen as needless expense will do. These conferences used to do well as a showcase for new products, however with the internet as it is today I really dont think they are a big hit if companies like these dont attend. I have to agree with this statement. When it comes down to it, these shows were exciting because he had no clue what was being shown in them. But with the internet consistently leaking information weeks or months before these shows even happen, it takes away from the shows. Thereby making them somewhat wasteful for companies at this point.
