Administrators Nathan Posted June 13, 2012 Administrators Posted June 13, 2012 Anyone use Sedo very much for purchasing domains? I can't hardly stand it. Anyways I was on there earlier today after I thought, "I wonder who owns Digitize Design.com?" I ended up finding it on there and also went to the .com to see what it was. Turns out it's just a ad landing page nothing there, no traffic. So I made an offer. I figure .net is already established and since he gets no traffic it can't be worth a lot. I offered $100. I just got an email back with his counter-offer....$10,000 lol... No thanks. I countered back with $125 and it let me comment, I asked why the price was so ridiculous. As Developerbase.net continues to grow he will have less and less of a chance to use the .com so I'm not sure what the point of holding on to it would be. Ah well I just figured it would be nice to have an forward on to the .net . Quote
deadmauslov Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 10 Thousand? How and why people buy domains expecting to sell them at 3000 + is beyond me. Quote
Victor Leigh Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 I think what he is banking on is that Digitize Design.net will grow bigger and bigger with each passing day. Then the desire to own the dot com, he thinks, will grow correspondingly. Finally the desire and the income of Digitize Design.net will reach the point where 10K usd is, relatively speaking, a small sum of money. Or he may wait until Digitize Design.net becomes very popular, then just set up a similar site with Digitize Design.com to get free traffic. Quote
ridwan sameer Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 He's definitely new to this. Im sure he's heard of people buying unique domain names and selling for high prics so he might have gotten a little excited Quote
bryce12 Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Wow this is insane. That guy wants to become a millionaire overnight and there is nothing you can do about it. I would suggest that make your final offer after few days, if the guy is desperate he'll settle for a much lower price. Quote

Yeah I sent him back one last night for $125 and told him it's the most I would pay. I also let him know that I don't need the .com just wanted it to forward on to the .net. Quote
tetutato Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 (edited) Lol sedo is a site for mainly domain parking isn't it? So everyone on there uses it to make good profit off of their domains, I can see why he offered 10000, I mean Digitize Design.com really is a good domain. (Although I don't agree with that high of a price) Edited June 13, 2012 by tetutato Quote

I could see something like Developer.com or DeveloperForums.com ect...being worth a lot but DeveloperBase isn't a normal keyword to search. Now as DeveloperBase.net grows and becomes bigger the .com could raise in value, but it's not a massive site yet. Quote
