So guys everyone knows there are far far far to many different extentions for all our domain names but how many do you register? Just the one you are going to use? Or everyone you can afford?

Guess it depends on the site. I don't buy any extras on any of my other sites. Other than DeveloperBase. I have .net,.org,.us,.info,.biz. The .com is taken as explained here.

I usually just buy the .com I don't have any reason to buy the other extensions. If I think someone may come along to compete with me, I would buy up the others. I'm a small fish. Even though it's getting harder and harder to find .com, most of them are not developed. A lot of them aren't even parked.

I've only ever bought the .coms. I can see the benefits to having more than one extension and maybe I'll kick myself later for not buying up more, but for now at least, I think just the main one is sufficient for me.

I buy .COM, .NET and .ORG if they are available. It also depends on the niche; if it looks like a promising niche then I will buy all three otherwise I would just settle for .COM ( or .ORG or .NET if .COM is not available). I rarely buy other extensions like .info, .biz as they are much harder to rank in my opinion.

Only the dot coms for me. Unless I have a use for the other extensions. Personally I think buying up all the extensions is only giving more money to the registrars.

Usally I get a .info and .com :) or just one of them :D I have for sholecompany a .info and .com :D

Did you get that as part of the offer from goDaddy? I think I have seen goDaddy offering free dot infos for every dot com you buy. Of course, the dot info must have the same name as the dot com.

Depends on what I am using the domain name for. If its for a site where I want to protect the name then I usually buy .com, .net, .org, .co.uk (if UK based) and occasionally .info although I have stopped doing that lately. However if its just for something like forwarding or email addresses I would generally just have the .com domain.
