Ram8349
Is there a point to run multiple or many low traffic web sites instead of focusing the energy on developing a single low traffic web site into a high traffic very successful web site? Something like 50 web sites with only 100 visitors each, vs. a single web site with 5000 visitors per day. I have heard of some people enjoy having 100 or even 500 web sites making $1 each. One of them was saying he was adding one new web site per day. I was speechless when I saw that post. In my own personal opinion, I'd rather focus energy on making a single web site succeed first before making a second web site. And I don't think I will ever run more than 3 web sites at the same time. They'll all be the niche I personally enjoy. What do you think? Administrators Nathan Posted June 18, 2012 Administrators Share Posted June 18, 2012 Just depends on how busy you want to be:) There is definitely a limit though, you can only give so much time/effort to each site before you start neglecting them all. Marc
I suppose it depends on how well you can build a large site too. If your good at building up content etc I think it would be better to keep the time to building a single site, however I can see the advantage for people tho can quickly design good looking attractive sites. Jessi
Sure there's a point. For me personally, though, I would rather run a few medium websites than have hundreds of meaningless ones. I wouldn't want the upkeep of hosting/domain renewals/content generation of that many, just on the hope that maybe a few of them became pseudo-successful. It's just not for me. bryce12
It depends on what your long term strategy is. Some people focus only on bigger niches as they want to get returns for long term. Others are content with creating small 5 page websites that rank well in Google but may not survive Google's changes. As for me, I focus on medium sized niches and create sites with at least 50 pages. So I do not have as many sites but I am definitely planning for the long term. Victor Leigh
I think those people who have hundreds of sites must be using some kind of automated system to build them. Maybe they bought one of those get-rich-quick programs.

How did those 50-page sites do? How much traffic do you get every day?

bryce12
50 pages of articles? Or forum posts? How did those 50-page sites do? How much traffic do you get every day? I was referring to content sites so it was 50 articles targeting 50 different keywords. The traffic depends on the niche really. These kind of sites can be a great source of passive income. These kind of sites can be a great source of passive income. All 50 articles are for the same niche? How many words on the average for each article? Did you write them yourself or paid for them? If you paid, how much did you pay for them? I am also working on expand the article section of my site in order to gain some traffic. I only have 9 articles so far. How much traffic do you get from that side per day?
tosaytheleast
Right now I am handling just one website and I can already feel the stress of handling it so I don;t think I cold handle more than that. Right now I am focusing on just one website and maybe I would consider making another one if I already have done everything that I would add to me first website. JHTech100
It depends on how different the topics are. If they're considerably close, then I think one website is better than 100 pointless ones. But if they're quite different, I would set up a different one for them.
Victor Leigh
I would think that the point to consider is whether your sites are random unconnected domains or domains created around a central theme or keyword. If the sites are not connected with each other in any way then it would be a big task taking care of them and the benefits are not apparent. However if your domains can be linked together into a network then it's worth the effort.
tetutato
Well I wouldn't see the point in having 50 same niche-category sites but if they are all different ideas, why not? As long as your time allows for all of them, it's fine.
Rayru18
Like it's been stated here multiple times, for me, it depends on how different the ideas are. In my case for example if I was considering creating different websites: one for music, one for movies, one for shows (for example); then I would definitely try and just gather them together and build just one big site and give them each an area in that site, but making it so the site is for entertainment and not just one topic inside entertainment. This way I can dedicate more time into polishing this idea and website and be able to get more people into one same place, increasing it's traffic. With multiple websites, neglect might set in for one or the other and you might just lose the traffic there completely, so I rather try and maintain the traffic with only one website. Of course if you believe there is an extreme need for each topic to have it's own website, and you have the time to maintain them, then by all means, it might even be better to some point, but only if they can all be managed equally well. Rainman
I think having 5 or so sites that complement each other wouldn't be such a bad idea after all. I'm supposing that if you're probably focusing on a particular niche then having micro-niche sites [within the same niche] which you can link to or from to get or drive laser-targeted traffic to them could probably boast the sales you can make. There's no guarantee though that such a strategy could work. It will depend entirely on how hard you work to get them all to rank well on Google. If you're not prepared to do all the hard work then it's better to stick with one site instead. Edited July 18, 2014 by Rainman
Soulwatcher
I think its better to focus on one website then many. If you have a lot of websites all your websites are going to suffer because you can not give all your websites the proper attention that they need. I myself thought I could do it two years ago and I had a epic failure. And now I am concentrating on one website and all is going well for me. I am making great progress with my one website. oraclemay
I cannot believe that anyone can handle so many websites effectively. I have a few, but they are mostly neglected, because they are too much work. I only concentrate on one or two and plan to get to the others later. kx8
One website is already a lot of work to handle and maintain. I think it would be best to focus and maintain one site. But I guess if a person wants to run multiple sites, 2 or 3 might be possible.
Jelineex
I doubt about handling multiple site would end to success. Managing it is a lot of work. Time will not be enough to set a priority. It needs a lot of attention especially with it's site maintenance. I find it more realistic to manage one site. To be able to give full attention and respond on the needs of the site. This is more preferable to have more visitors/guest because it's well manage. People will see the clear image. It will attract and hold the interest of the audience which in return creates more traffic.
Bravosi
I'd go for multiple, because the more you have the better. Depending on your finances as well though.
Alania
Well I think it honestly depends on several factors, to begin with, if you have a large audience and each piece of it wants something different, then you should have multiple websites suitable to their subjects. Otherwise, have only one.
