ridwan sameer Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Well I was thinking. You know how when Nathan or any staff members post here there will be a small sign on the right of their posts saying "Staff" I was thinking.. For Power Contest.. There should be something Like "Contest Leader" or "#1" Or something to denote that he is the current leader in the contest... And maybe for the second and third aswell. Quote
Thomas Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 I am still not one for having it in the general forum layout. Especially if Nathan decides not to run it back to back. Quote
Thomas Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Also since we are primarily talking about DeveloperBase I've moved it to the FAQ. Quote
ridwan sameer Posted June 21, 2012 Author Posted June 21, 2012 Well Im sure even if it was not run back to back. The community would know of a competition taking place.. So it would still be useful. Well I was talking about the Plugin as a whole and not just bot DB... But Oh well Quote
Administrators Nathan Posted June 21, 2012 Administrators Posted June 21, 2012 Yeah it could be a hook that's either enabled or not. Quote
Marc Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Im with Ridwan actually. I think it should be shown on the forum as it will encourage more participation. Although not sure what it would look like with Staff on one side and winner on the other jk Quote
Victor Leigh Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 I have seen one plugin that puts the current score right there under the total number of posts. If I remember rightly, you can set the start and end of the competition period and the plugin will do the rest. Another way to do it is to initiate a point system. Then at the start of the competition, everybody's points are reset to zero. The total points to date will show under the avatar. A third way, which is slightly off-track, would be to show an activity bar. Let's say we set the activity target in each competition period to be 100 posts. Then the activity bar, which displays under the avatar would show, in percentage points, how far we are, to achieving the target. Quote

Good ideas, but a contest geared plugin suits this situation much better... And power contest does an excellent job. Im sure Nathan can implement a way to incorporate the number of posts made for the concert under each user Quote
Marc Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Current points in postbit I think would be a nice touch for it. Thought about that for the vbulletin version I'm currently playin around with. Quote
