Do you have kids? Well even if you dont you probably know alot.. relatives and whatnot.

Anyway, What's your opinion on them growing into the technology age? I mean my nephew who is just a year and 3 months old knows how to unlock and play games on an iPhone and my Galaxy S.

And when given a fake Chinese iPhone he threw it away and cried for the real iPhone.

I mean this makes them smarter for sure, But I mean if kids start getting addicted to the computer and technology at such a young age, Wouldn't that have bad effects as well? (probably eye sight problems)?

My 10 year old decided to sit and explain to me what a variable was the other day. That I found half scary and half amusing. The scary part was that he didnt just describe it as a word which holds a value which is the way I would expect a kid to understand it, he instead described it as a word which you can use to refer to a value in stored in memory whilst the program is running LOL.

Now that is a smart kid.

Try to get him into programming at a young age :P

I'd love to see him program power contest better than you :P

Hah, crazy even that young of a kid can tell the difference. I don't know about eye issues as long as you have a quality screen.

That's crazy, is he already coding stuff?

It doesn't make them smarter, it just means they're learning different things. I don't think kids that young should be exposed to that much technology so early in their life.

He's already trying LOL ... I too would love to see him code better than me! :) As Chill said however it doesnt make him any smarter, just that he is learning the right things from the right people. However he is a bit of a clever sh** , which any dad will tell you can be as annoying as it is rewarding LOL.

Doesn't make him smarter??? Sure it does, his IQ is absolutely increasing with this knowledge.

I meant relative to other generations. It's just a different way of learning. It isn't necessarily going to make him smarter than you or I.

It scares me. Kids are spending their entire lives in front of a computer screen nowadays, wasting their youth... they'll have plenty of time to click on pictures on screens when they're older, they should be out dating and having fun with their friends.

Also, I hate knowing that when I'm really old, these kids will know more than me when it comes to technology. They'll make fun of me because I still use a computer with a screen (!) in 2050.

You don't have to become outdated when it comes with technology. Recently, I saw my nephew updating his Tumblr page. I casually mentioned my Tumblr blog. Then he said...."I think it's cool at your age that you still keep up on technology" Wow!!
