Alright I've found one of the best resources for learning new programming languages at CodeSchool.

I've been wanting some help to learn more about CSS, jQuery, and AJAX. Most of the stuff I've found online is ok, but too advanced for where I'm at and hard to figure out. Tony sent me a link to the site and I checked it out, it's $25/month, but so far the 2 days I've had it I have learned a TON!

Anyways just wanted to let you guys know about it in case you are looking for some coding help.

Another decent one has been http://www.codecademy.com/. They are doing tutorials via email/online every Monday and you can go through the back logs. It started in January of this year, for a 'coding year'. I haven't done any of it myself yet, since I haven't had the time, but I certainly plan on.

Ah cool I'll have to check it out.

I guess in my first post I forgot to mention how it works so well. I started with the CSS lessons. There are 7 levels I believe for CSS. You start on level 1 watch a 10 minute video and then you have a series of coding examples of what the output should be. You code until you get the test page to look the way the example does. If you get stuck they have hints, but actually typing out the code trying to solve the problem works a lot better.

CodeSchool looks very good and great for improving my programming skills, but unfortunately it's too expensive for me, I would gladly join if it was offered for a cheaper price. Codecademy seems excellent and I will join it right now and use it tomorrow's morning and see what it offers. I wonder how much I will improve. I've hit a stall in my learning process. Hopefully I will start learning more and more again.

Thanks Nathan and CHiLL!

You have found the best way to learn programming, which is learn by doing and learn by mistake aka hit and miss.

Myself, I learn my programming from the wrong way round. I start off with a little snippet of code then work backwards to see what's wrong with it. Personally, knowing what can go wrong is more useful than knowing what can go right. It helps me to write a program instead of bugging a programming. Bugging as in writing in code which can go wrong.

Yeah you can go to their site and it shows all the available courses before you buy.

CodeSchool is great, I like the fact that they offer some courses for free, so you can try them out and see if you like their style, and if you like then you can do the investment. They've also added a lot more courses, I remember becoming a member a few months ago and they only had about 7 courses available, it almost doubled from what I see now.

In my opinion if you are not sure you want to pay the $25, take advantage of the free courses, you'll see it's worth the investment for the other courses.

CodeAcademy is also a good alternative, I used it before CodeSchool, they've also grown a lot since I started using it, I remember when I joined they only had the javascript tutorial up. The tutorials they send online are great, I did a few back when it started but haven't been able to keep on going with them, I do plan on doing them in some time.

Just went over to have a look-see. Hey, they have something free, too.

I think I will give that a try. It will be useful for me since I am using Linux.

Wow that is AWESOME! I'm tempted to look into this, maybe I can finally learn some more JS and Jquery!! :D

I had seen you mention this site on another discussion on Ajax. And had visited the site but could not find it interesteing. Hence I registered for a free account and though at the moment they have just 2 or 3 stuffs for free, I would try with the GIT one. Now, I am from India, without a Credit Card and even the rules of my Government have restricted us from using Paypal to make any purchases. We feel so very crippled many a times as I do fee that the 25 USD would not be a waste.

Anyways, as I cannot pay them, I think I have to stick with the free version and the codeacademy which has most or all for free.
