Now if only Bob Diamond would do the same with the bonus which he didn't deserve. That would be even more fantastic. Fantastic as in only existing in a fantasy.

 

Actually it's all connected with perceptions. Some managers look at their subordinates as slaves. Other managers look at their subordinates as the very reason for their own existence.

Who's Bob Diamond?

Bob Diamond is the guy who resigned from Barclays after the Libor scandal. When he left he was paid millions as a bonus. Considering that he had caused the bank to lose so much credibility, he should have been penalized instead of being rewarded. If he had any sense of justice, he would have either returned the money or gave it to his lower level staff like the Lenovo guy did.

Now here is one CEO who knows how to motivate his employees. I wish other CEOs were as generous, most of them just know how to pocket the money. The fact that he shared his own money with lowest rung workers speaks volumes about his leadership and entrepreneurial skills.

Bryce12 that's my thoughts entirely, like you say its a shame others will not follow. That is a very generous boss l wish l was one of his employees.

Not only is he a cool boss, but he's a smart one too. He's aware that is success is as a result of his team of workers bringing his goals to fruition. He's aware that if he does this, this will only motivate his workers to continue to work hard, and make the company even more successful. He's using his emotional intelligence, but allowing his workers to feel that his success is also theirs, and they helped to contribute to it.

Lenovo has started to surpass HP as one of the leading computer manufacturers out there, which is a pretty big deal considering just a few years ago they weren't really a household name - the space was largely dominated by HP, Dell and Sony. This is very cool of him to do. Both my desktop and laptop are Lenovo and I've been very pleased with both. Their systems just give you more bang for your buck. I read somewhere that they run on much thinner profit margins, emphasizing quality in their products rather than cheap parts to make bigger profits.
