S.O. Price Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Hi, I am working on creating a blog at this site. I have a few questions so I went to their support area and posted my questions over the past few weeks. I have not received ONE response for any of my questions. Is that the common experience of everyone? Several years ago I created a quick and dirty website using Microsoft's Live Office and they at least had the decency to answer my questions in a fairly prompt manner, even if the answers weren't that helpful... bryce12 Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I have never contacted their support but you can get answer to your question a lot faster by posting it in Google Groups. Here is the link to Blogger group http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!forum/blogger You can also check Google search results related to your query, chances are there are already answers available. Jessi Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Yep, and I go the route Bryce suggested, too. Most questions have already been answered somewhere anyway, but if yours is somehow unique, try the google group instead. There are lots of people there who know what they're talking about. Quote
Siddharth Ramakrishnan Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 What kind of help you need , just ask me. I am bit expert in webmaster field and I hope i can answer all your questions. Quote
Thomas Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Support is normally rather bad. Especially if Free has anything to do with it. I'd say try Googleing the questions first, then try asking here and if all else fails directly ask the support. Personally for blogging why wouldn't you want Wordpress Quote
Administrators Nathan Posted January 3, 2013 Administrators Posted January 3, 2013 Personally for blogging why wouldn't you want Wordpress Are they associated with the .org Wordpress? I always wondered how they could use their name without being tied in. From what I can tell they are separate? Quote
Thomas Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Wordpress.org is the open souse software that is behind wordpress.com I assume that due to the .com being able to upgrade to premium blogs it is what keeps the software running. Quote
Victor Leigh Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 I think both the dot org and the dot com are run by the same team of people. Well, I didn't really notice any difference. I use Wordpress for most of my sites. Never felt the need to ask for support yet. Actually never thought of asking for support for something that's free. Lately I have been playing with Drupal. Has anyone else tried Drupal? Quote

Has anyone else tried Drupal? As for the matter, yes I did use Drupral... it is great because it is the safer CMS out there... but! their is not much open source module that is actively developed with drupral... you will find much of what you want for Drupal 6.X that will not be compatible with the latest release ;( Btw : whitehouse.gov is running drupal Thomas 1 Quote
SarahG Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 I have a blog on Blogger and it's always been super easy to maintain and update. However I haven't ever tried to contact their support... I definitely agree with general Googling and Google Groups for answers to questions as there are SO many users on Blogger, someone is bound to be able to help (or has come across the same issue in the past). That said, Blogger seems a bit 'elementary' as far as blog sites go and I'm thinking about a switch to Wordpress to have more control over content and layout and such... Quote
stutin Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Yes I have worked on this site couple of years ago, but this site is a little complicated...I have never faced any technical issues with them but yes the site is a little strange and hard to operate. Quote
Grumpy Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 I've used it before but it was a long time ago, when I very first discovered that it's easy to make your own websites for free and stuff. We're talking probably 4 years ago was when I first used it. Now I wouldn't dream of using a free service. I'd much rather spend a few pennies per day and use some proper, manageable hosting and a proper domain name, the benefits of doing so are just so great. Quote
andrewt Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Support is practically non existing, but their blog platform is pretty good for ranking keywords in google. I had some succes using it. I wouldn't recommend it if you plan on opening an authority site since they can always shut you down. The better option would be to buy your own domain install wordpress and go from there. Quote
mikelouis Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 If you have not developed much on blogger, I would advise you switch to wordpress. It has great feature than blogger especially with the new upgrade that happened in December. I host my blog on wordpress with my own domain and I must say it so easy to use. Youc an also try it out. limcid Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 (edited) I've had a rather high-traffic blog on Blogger for about 7 years with no real technical problems. However, I've worked on the admin side of a Wordpress site and I really like how things work much better with a Wordpress site. The next site I do will be using Wordpress (on my own domain). Using your own domain is important, I think. I never liked the idea of being within the Blogger domain. I prefer a standard dot com site, using the Wordpress software as the back-end of the site. Blogger is great for your first website experience, though. Edited July 17, 2014 by limcid Quote
Jessi Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Wordpress.org is the open souse software that is behind wordpress.com I assume that due to the .com being able to upgrade to premium blogs it is what keeps the software running. Yes. So Wordpress.com and Wordpress.org are through the same Wordpress company. You can use Wordpress and host your site for free if you use a domain such as digitize.wordpress.com. If you want to use your own domain, though, you must purchase hosting elsewhere and use the 'upgraded'/premium Wordpress options. Quote
