New game that's in beta.  It's a lot of fun.

If you need an invite let me know.

Does it run on Linux? I have Windows 8 Pro for playing World of Warcraft but if there are good MMORPGs written to run natively on Linux, I am more than eager to give it a try.

I haven't confirmed it myself, but I've seen others that claim it does.  I'll look some more.

Just confirmed yes it will run on Linux successfully with Wine.

Let me know if you would like an invite.

Thanks, but no thanks. Not if it runs under Wine. I might as well dual boot back into my Windows 8 Pro. That's the main reason why I am still using Windows. The rest of my work I do with Linux already.

Now I am tempted. What's the minimum hardware specs required to run the game?

System Requirements

When installing the game it is recommended to have about 15 gb of free space before starting the install process, otherwise you may run into a SevenZipSharp error.

The minimum system specs to run Firefall are:

OS: Windows XP (32/64-bit)

Processor (AMD): Dual Core @ 2.6 Ghz (Athon 64 x2, Athlon II x2, Phenom II x2)

Processor (Intel): Dual Core @ 2.2 Ghz (Core 2, Core i3, Pentium Dual Core)

GPU: DirectX 9 compatible AMD or Nvidia video card with 1GB RAM (AMD/ATI Radeon HD 4550 or Nvidia Geforce 8600)

Memory: 4 GB

The recommended system specs to run Firefall are:

Processor (AMD): Quad Core @ 2.8 Ghz (Athlon II X4, Phenom, Phenom II X4)

Processor (Intel): Quad Core @ 2.4 Ghz (Core 2 Quad, i5, i7)

GPU: AMD/ATI Radeon HD 4850 or Nvidia Geforce GTS 450

MEMORY: 4 GB

If your system meets these requirements, then this is the software necessary to run it. The installer will attempt to install this, but just to be on the safe side go ahead and preemptively install them.

Looks like I am out of luck then. I only have a Celeron 1.2Ghz. Interestingly, with that I can play World of Warcraft using Windows 8 Pro. At about 35fps, too. Does Guild Wars have a low specs mode?

LOL I am getting this thread confused with the Guild Wars thread. Maybe it's because the hardware requirements are similar. Which means that, with my current equipment, I can't play either. Looks like I will have to stick with World of Warcraft.

Haven't played in over a year now.  Has it changed much?

Not a lot but thing got a lot better and more people came in to play so that what makes it really cool especially the PVP first time I played something like that so I really enjoy it from time to time but I am not hooked up on it yet.
