Administrators Nathan Posted January 6, 2013 Administrators Share Posted January 6, 2013 So what happened to your site Victor? Thought there used to be something there? What sites do you run now?
Victor Leigh
Well, my sites were all on one cloud server that was killed by a technical bug. Everything is gone. Except my content which I always have with me. So now I am rebuilding the server. Haven't done that for months so there are certain details which I forgot how to set. No hurry, though. I have got a lot of work to do to populate a few sites belonging to a client. One of his sites is hot at the moment with more than 1 million hits per month. Also I am developing another site using Drupal. As usual I am spending more time doing work on other people's sites. Quite logical actually since other people are paying me hard cash for my work. Administrators Nathan Posted January 6, 2013 Author Administrators Share Posted January 6, 2013 Yeah good for you so is that what you do for a full time living?
Victor Leigh
Yes, for the past few years I have been living totally on my income from my work on the internet. Not very rich living but then again I live a minimalist lifestyle. Just for the sake of finding out, I found that I could live on about 17usd of food a month. I could actually earn a lot more. Just didn't have that much motivation to do it. You see, I am presently living in what some would call the blessed state of wifelessness. Not too sure about the part of being blessed but it makes for a lot more peace and quiet when there isn't some woman nagging you to buy this or that. This is not to say that I would turn down a good offer if there is one. Do you have anything that you would like me to do for you?
Administrators Nathan Posted January 7, 2013 Author Administrators Share Posted January 7, 2013 $17/month in food? Dunno how that's possible unless you are eating all Ramen Noodles
Victor Leigh
Yes, it's possible to live on 17usd food money a month. Not with Ramen. That would cost more. I lived on rice and dried salted fish. Not the very best diet but it was an experiment to find out what is the rock bottom living expenses that I can survive with. Very interesting experiment actually. Gives me a lot of confidence to keep on going when the economic situation becomes very bad since I already know that I can survive with very little money. Jessi
Quite logical actually since other people are paying me hard cash for my work. Congrats!! That's kind of why my sites are somewhat slow right now. I want to spend the time working on them, but it's hard to take the time to work on mine for 'potential' cash when I'm getting guaranteed cash elsewhere. Victor Leigh
Yes, Jessi, that's why, for example, hairdressers have very bad hairdos and dressmakers look like they are wearing discarded sacks found in the trashcan. Probably doctors are not the most healthy people around either. Lately I have been getting steady income because some very kind people felt the need to pay this poor, old man a fixed amount of money every month. In advance. For work yet to be delivered. Good, in one way. Bad, in that I have to work harder since I have already received their money and I hate to be in debt even for just a few dollars. Mind you, I have no objection at all if someone like, say, Nathan, wants to pay me in advance for work. I can always enjoy an extra burger or two.
