Is Xenforo Dead?

So I've never used Xenforo, but I know quite a few people like it and they have a big following.

I'm not sure exactly what's going on but I know they are in a lawsuit with vBulletin and development has stopped?

Just browsing quickly I see a lot of unhappy customers, so does anyone that's a Xenforo fan know more?  I really haven't kept up.

It seems to me that the company has been drained of its cash/strength by the lawsuit, which was vB's plan from the beginning. So yeah, it looks dead to me :(

I am on a forum which switched from vBulletin to Xenforo very recently. I asked the forum owner about it, since I have heard the gloomy news about Xenforo. The forum owner said he is totally unaffected by anything that happens to Xenforo since he is a developer and he is creating and maintaining all his own plugins.

Just read they finally go to court on January 15th.  If it goes to trial Xenforo is favored to win so the hope is it will settle before then.

Not sure if that's correct, just what I gathered from all my reading.  Xenforo confirmed the court date, but nothing else.

I was getting ready to post that I had heard it goes to trial mid-January.

I hadn't heard about Xenforo being favored to win if they actually make it there, though. I wonder why that is?

Also, do you think they'll settle out of court then? Surely they would have by now if they were going to, right?

Xenforo being favored to win I read in an article that wasn't written by Xenforo or vBulletin, so who know's.

I would think they would keep it until the last minute in order to create more fear and get the most money right?

It goes to the trial in january but resources are running low because of the trial. I dont know if its for a legal team or what but all I know is that there is a strain on resources. Some of the team members leaving hasnt helped either.

I have to say that Xenforo was never a project that really grabbed it. It was just a forum that had more AJAX and JavaScript then most. Yes it did feel new and special more then the updates if IP.Board and vBulletin but having used this IP.Board software for a while now I much prefer it over Xenforo..

Xenforo was like anything on the internet, it got the popularity but didn't continue.

Don't know if any of you have ever been on a Xenforo forum for moderation was horrible. I hated every time I had to use them.

Really, Thomas? I am a moderator on a forum run on Xenforo. Haven't noticed anything unusual yet. Maybe that's because there's isn't much to moderate in the first place. Not that there's no activity. Plenty of activity on that forum but the members, so far, are good people. So, Thomas, what should I look out for?

Back on topic.

I am hoping that Xenforo will win the court case but I am not too hopeful. In a court of law, money talks and big money talks a lot louder. Nothing to do with buying out the judges or anything underhand like that. It's just that with more money, you can hire a better grade of lawyers who would intimate the opponents just by their reputation alone.
