What are the benifits to having graphics on your site? Well, if there weren't any images the website would be hard to read and not look, all that, appealing. Graphics are used to strike interest among the user and break up text.

 

As for multimedia, it depends on the kind of site you are running. Say, for example, you are running a how-to site: videos showing how your step-by-step instructions are done would be helpful as some people need to see what's being done. Or, if you are a band wanting to sell your CD, then you'd need to provide samples of what you're trying to sell. Again, it all depends on what you're trying to give the user to know whether multimedia would be benificial or not.

 

Graphics, however, you need those.

You can build an aesthetically pleasing web site with just HTML and CSS. Graphics aren't entirely necessary for good design, but they do add some personalization - such as a photo of the author at least. It depends on the nature of your site. If you are an author and perhaps are sharing short stories through your site for example, there may not necessarily be any need for graphics. On the other hand, if you are running a food blog, it would probably be a good idea to include some shots of your recipes. 

 

If you are looking for training on how to use the common graphics programs such as Photoshop and Illustrator, you can find a ton of free high quality tutorials on Youtube as well as Adobe's official site. Just do a search on Youtube for the version of the apps you have plus the word "tutorial", you will find hundreds if not thousands of results. Some of my favorites are the "Lynda.com" and official Adobe tutorials.

No-one can say they were unable to locate any resources that were helpful for learning graphics, as the internet is full of many and they are free.I am sure many will benefit from this information. You can try to learn Graphics courses from a good recognized institute. Also many online certifications are available which will help you learn the subject better. If you are aware of grahics and multi media there are a lot of opportunities in the market. Companies like  Nvidia, Mentor Graphics are always looking for talented individuals and that would certainly place you in the elite list of applicants when you apply to such companies. Make sure to have some hands on experience  when you are learning the topic.

It's a user friendly website and a beginner friendly, the instructors teachers clear and concise information.

Well, I think you should at least learn how to use Photoshop, maybe not learning everything but at least the basic functions and tools. Also, find out what you really want to learn about graphic design.
