Kakashi2020 Posted March 18, 2018 Posted March 18, 2018 People are saying that a good site always needs to have good graphics to be attractive but good graphics can be heavy and can cause the page to load longer, does that mean having good graphics in a site could have a negative impact for your Google rankings? Administrators Nathan Posted March 20, 2018 Administrators Posted March 20, 2018 I think there is a balance in this area. Nothing wrong with great images on your site, just make sure their optimized. For example, don't upload an image at a huge resolution such as 2000px wide when it only needs to be 700px, also don't upload a massive PNG file at 5mb when it would be just fine as a flattened png or jpg file of 400kb. See what I mean? Now if you need those big resolution and file sizes for some reason then set thumbnail images on the main page, then allow the user to click to the actual large file in a new tab. WordPress does most of this for you if you're using it though. I've heard the same that the page load speed can effect search engine rankings. Kakashi2020 and WisTex 2 Quote
WisTex Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 Another thing to consider is that it is now possible to create many graphical elements, such as buttons and icons, purely with CSS and some code now. This can reduce the loading time considerably because it looks like a graphic, but it's actually just text, symbols, and CSS. In the old days, you would need to create an image to display an icon or a button, but that is not the case anymore. So strategically using this technique can make your pages load faster while making them more appealing. Quote
fishbate Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 I think it's the combination of visual elements that creates attraction on a site. In the digital world, people tend to give more attention to graphical features and animations. Although some of them are not so enticing like adds but somehow it's the same way how to make people interested. There are also factors like fonts, tabs and logos that can contribute in terms of attraction but i think its more of the content of the site and how significant it is to the subscriber that drives attraction the most. mitan143 Posted April 13, 2018 Posted April 13, 2018 I think having good graphics or any cool animations on your website will definitely help you rank good in Google, if it is one of the criteria then yes. But, I prefer a simple website that is user-friendly and not totally focused on the front end. It's okay if the website has such an amazing graphics and animations but make sure that it is easy to understand and to use by the users especially for those not so techy people. Quote
molinamorgan Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 Just upload images with required optimizations, don't upload with over high quality, may effect on loading time. Quote
