Antivirus Software

By iInstalling a good Antivirus program your computer will always run fast and would shield and protect it against the different known viruses.  It's always good to have one of this programs that cleans Spyware and Malware infections as well as leftover files and even your registry.  

Having one would save you a lot of time and money from paying for computer repairs.  One that I use is Malwarebytes it's a good program and there's a free download version and a paid one.

What Antivirus Program do you use?

I'm actually not very knowledgeable about antivirus programs but I do use Avast Anti Virus software for my laptop. I've used it since 2015 and so far I haven't encountered any problem related to viruses and malware. I also love it because it's free. However, the con is that it's a little bit slow when I scan for viruses and so I send a lot of time when I clean my pc.

I don't use any outside of the default Windows Defender.  I'm not a normal user though and watch where I browse and what I open.  I think with common sense most people could be fine, but doesn't seem to be the case

There are sites that let's you automatically download an infected file without your consent. I don't think Windows Defender is the best but that's the one I'm using.

I use Windows Defender as the primary system, but I also do occasional scans with the free versions of Malwarebytes, Panda Cloud Anti-Virus, and Spybot Search & Destroy just to be safe and thorough, because sometimes a virus or worm or trojan horse or malware will get past one, but will be caught by another.

But @Nathan does have a great point about safe browsing and safe downloading. If you keep your browsers, operating system and anti-virus updated, and be careful, there will be few incidents of infection.

I've been using Microsoft Security Essentials for a long time. I haven't updated my Windows so I'm stuck with MSE but I'm happy with it because it can detect any viruses I just needed to update the software from time to time. The good thing about MSE is I like the simplicity of the design there are no annoying ads and it's free no need to upgrade to premium. The only thing that I don't like about it is when I'm trying to scan my hard drive it could take long hours before it can be fully scanned but nonetheless, I'm satisfied on my anti-virus.

I've been using Norton Internet Security since 2009 and I'm happy with the product.
Aside from protecting me from Viruses and Malware, the application has features such
as:

    a. Identity Protection via an Identity Safe.
    b. Performance Utilities such as a File Cleaner and a Startup Manager.
    c. A link to a password Generator.

The only thing that I don't like is that you have to pay an annual fee but you get
what you pay for.

I have avast anti virus and a usb security software. Worms and trojans are mainly for software and applications that have been downloaded on a unreliable site and it's kinda an old thing. Pishing and spyware nowadays are threats that are really need to be addressed, but these things usually don't need an antivirus or any other protection. You just have to be aware and be cautious on your online activity, just be careful in giving your personal identifications and i think you'll be fine.

I was using WebRoot, but then switched to AVG, presuably to get rid of blue screen shutdowns. but WebRoot might not have been the source.  Anyway, speaking of paid versions, I have McAfee installed on one and none on the other.  However, I will probably switch to AVG on both when possible (financially).

I was using Avast before, it was good actually, but right now, I'm using kaspersky.  I transfer to Kaspersky because I think the security is much more better compare to Avast.  I working in a company related to bank and they're using Kaspersky.  So, I think they trust this enough, that's why I also transfer to kaspersky.

I am currently using Windows Defender and Malwarebytes. Malwarebytes is compatible with any Windows Antivirus. It also detects malware and Antivirus applications do not have the capability to detect them. I have a fairly high-end machine and I think having both won't bog down the performance of my PC.

Avast has always been my favorite anti virus software right from when I was still just using android phones before I got my first laptop. 

Now, having upgraded to windows 10 avast still offers me the best protection against any kind of virus or malware that my system may be vulnerable to. Avast boost over 400 million users in the world and being official partners with Microsoft shows how the anti virus software is.

I've used Avast since 2008 on my first laptop. It was recommended by my uncle and I've since then used it. I haven't had any problems with it throughout the years I've used it.

I just bought a new laptop a few months ago and I was also curious on the best anti virus software that I can used to protect my computer from virus and malware attack that might damage it. I have a pre installed anti virus in my laptop which is the Norton and Avast. I don't have much knowledge about anti virus that is why I am not taking much time on it as long as I can used my laptop well.

I was using Avast before, but eventually I deleted all Antivirus softwares with the exception of AntiMalwarebytes. It saved me from a trojan once.

Yes. There are sites like this. There are also sites that looks legit but is not. Last week I had a problem with my computer because of malware. I have to reset everything. Lucky for me that I have a backup.

I can't say much about other anti-virus programs since the one that I use ever since the Windows XP days is AVAST anti-virus free version. What I like about it is it gets the job done and doesn't take too many resources on your system unlike what others do. I heard good reviews about Malware Bytes also although I've never used it yet.

I only used Avast anti-virus software for the longest period of time. It serves enough security protection against any virus. It usually detect any suspicious file. I don't see any problem using Avast thou I only used the free version. I have no experience using other antivirus software.

My main problem with Avast is the fact that it doesn't always work correctly. When I had AntiMalwareBytes it detected a trojan, while Avast did not.

I have been using Kaspersky Total Security from the past 6 years and haven't found any threats whatsoever. It automatically scans my PC everyday, scans rootkit files, internal files, and any external USBs or hard disks periodically. It is a great value for money. Antivirus is a must these days with rising security concerns. It provides an additional layer of security when doing financial transactions.

I have to agree with you on this one. But to be honest, I wouldn't be harsh on Avast, because for me all the other antivirus softwares are bad and useless. They never detect anything. That's why I deleted everything and stayed with Malwarebytes only. It's simply more superior and multifunctional.

I was using Smadav after using the software to clean some trojan virus. But, since last year, I have been using Avast. From the comments, I will try  Malwarebytes.

It depends on a kind of anti-virus systems. Others, are more upgraded and efficient compared to Avast. But, as far I'm concern Avast works effectively and efficiently. Besides, I intend to avoid site that are unscrupulous. I don't download applications that are not useful in different unknown site.  Avast application still provide warning information if ever I visited a suspicious site  or files that are not safe. I am still satisfied with it's function.

I've used Microsoft security essentials for a long long time, but I've tried several antiviruses too like Bit defender, Avast, ESET NOD32, but now I revert back to using MSE just because it is simple and does it jobs but for complicated antiviruses, I have a few portable antiviruses that does it's job too.

Personally, my main problem with the average antivirus softwares, that they keep asking whether I want to allow a certain file or not (at my own risk). Excuse me then, why did I get the antivirus software, if it keeps asking me about the file? It should be able to detect itself whether it's legit or not, haha.
