Is Email Marketing Still Effective Nowadays?

Recommended Posts

It's all a matter of offering something your customers want. I still check my email and read certain promotional emails. I ignore the rest. It's pretty much a numbers game, and the better your content, the better your numbers.

So it's probably still worth doing, but you have to do it right. There is so much competition out there that if you don't, you just get deleted or ignored.

There's this thing called "Click Bait" in where you attract your customers offering something you market. It's a way of exaggerating things and you can gain possible leads from that way of marketing. If the subject is good, for sure it will be read by the people who are interested on that specific thing. Sites that you subscribe to are using this technique and sends email messages from time to time regarding their product or website.

Click bait only works for so long though, especially for an email list where people can unsubscribe or filter you into the trash folder.

For a mailing list, you do need good subject lines to get people to open the email, however, they should not be misleading or overpromise on what you intend on delivering.

I did some email marketing campaigns in the past and tried every technique there is and one technique that was effective is the 2 Step System which is composed of a concise introductory email accompanied by a short questionnaire, along with an email link for quick reply.  Another short version of this technique would be including a link to my site where the questions are.  You can play with the scenario but what I do is incorporate a raffle to motivate them.

Whilst it's not always the most effective way of promotion and marketing, it can work quite well if you do it properly. I think the biggest problem for a lot of people is that the emails that they actually send aren't good enough for people to not consider them as time-wasting or as spam. The emails either won't contain content that is interesting enough for the user to actually bother reading the whole thing or it actually ends up in the spam box so the user just doesn't see the email in the first place. Both are quite big problems really, unfortunately, you can't do much (I believe, not too sure) about the later problem where it ends up in the spam box. However, you can do a lot more to make your emails much more interesting.

Email Marketing lost its power, but I think we have nothing to lose if we are still using it. There may be chances that most emails to be true and still be used by their creators, unfortunately, there are a lot of fake emails.
