WisTex
The U.S. Congress has passed a law, that if signed into law by the President, would "subject websites to criminal and civil liability when third parties (users) misuse online personals unlawfully," according to Craigslist. "Any tool or service can be misused," Craigslist said. "We can't take such risk without jeopardizing all our other services, so we are regretfully taking craigslist personals offline. Hopefully we can bring them back some day." So Craigslist will shut down its dating section to protect itself from potential liability. How do you think this will affect things in the future? Is it fair to punish people for the actions of others? Reference: NPR Article Edited March 24, 2018 by WisTex
hoppip93
The market for craigslist personals is very small at the moment, anyway, so this doesn't really change things since most people are on tinder and other similar apps anyway. Craislist also has a reputation for more sketchy meetups, so this has been a long time coming even without the law being passed.
Administrators Nathan Posted March 27, 2018 Administrators Share Posted March 27, 2018 I'd think compared to other categories this is rather small and only a threat to their base business model so why not get rid of it?
