Remember this? This social media site was the first of its kind at that time, its like the prehistoric facebook . Yup Friendster was actually one of the first site that i subscribed and it was a great hit back then...So sad that it had to go, i remember that the site emailed me saying goodbye. I wonder what happened to this site?

Friendster sent an e-mail to users about a

Out of curiosity i tried searching the site....and this came up.

During friendster popularity way back few years ago, I was one of the users of the site too. It was really interesting especially when you customized your transition design. As far as I remember before, me and my brother has been competing for our accounts' design and how many friends we will be able to add. Actually, there are a lot of precious memories that I still remembered until now with my friendster account back then, and I really missed it so much but I guess friendster won't be going to compete with today's modern generation of social media sites anymore. But I'm still proud that I am one of those millions of users who have friendster account in the history.

I once become a member of this site, and it was really fun.  You can upgrade your profile by changing the background, I remember I used the Pearl Jam poster on my Friendster background, you can install a music on your profile, or once you have a visitor, they will hear you favorite song, and the other thing I really like about friendster is, you will know who ever stalk to you or looking at your profile, and its really fun to know that your crush was one of your visitors.

Exactly my thoughts right now. I actually used Friendster from 2007-2009 and left it behind after discovering Facebook. I love it because it was very unique especially with themes and the music add-on. I really loved all of its features that when I started using Facebook, I kind of tried to look for the same things such as the customizable theme and profile and kept coming back to Friendster for quite a while. However, it changed in to a gaming website instead of a social media site, and that's why I entirely focused on using Facebook.

You're right.  Because of Facebook they become gaming website.  I wonder what's happened to their site.  Right now The Facebook is having some trouble about the privacy issues, I hope the friendster will take advantages of this situation and go back and become a social media site again.  Well that's cool, if ever.

I personally really didn't like the site at all even during its heyday; the interface wasn't particularly good and the features and customizability of the site seemed to be geared more towards teens and preteens, and it didn't draw in the older demographic.

I also hope that Friendster would take advantage of that situation. However, with the current situation of the company handling Friendster, I don't think they'll come back soon. Their problem actually rooted internally or their management to be specific. If only they didn't change their CEO, I guess they're still competing with Facebook right now.

Yeah, you're right.  So far, the people, I think starting to doubt  about the credibility and security in Facebook, maybe some of them starting to look for a new social media platform similar to Facebook to post about their problems in life gossip, the people they hate and well of course their selfies. :) just kidding.  The friendster I think is good competitor.

Yeah I remember this. It was the social media for mostly Asians back then, I had this for my Asian friends and I had myspace for my friends who don't even know what Friendster was because it wasn't the social media they use in their country. I sort of miss this honestly it's better than Facebook.

I remember that particular social media sites before way back during my high school days, I find it to be cool and very entertaining because that was the only social media sites that I know before. But for now I cannot see it anymore I don't know what happen to it since mostly people now used Facebook instead of friendster.

Me too, I mean almost everyone in my country uses this social media platform first before anything but it's kind of sad that they just disappear quickly and we don't even know the reason behind it, I miss using that platform and I hope that someday they'll comeback and I will be able to open my old account which is impossible but if possible I want to see my old pictures, when I was just a kid.

Yes, I remember friendster. I've seen it's year that isn't have a popularity rate. It was first introduced to me by a friend but I find it boring. I just ignored it until such time users recognize it's beauty. It blooms unexpectedly and it has a life on it's own. A lot of people are uploading photos and connecting old friends. People are becoming more active and interactive in Social Media platform.  Sad to say, it never sustained it's popularity with the presence of Facebook as it's best competitor.

I was in grade school when I knew about Friendster. I remember the time when I needed to design the background of my profile, insert music, add pictures and many more. I actually remember Friendster in this forum with the background and the falling snow. I also remember back then when I had to add my friends and ask them to write a testimonial on my profile. I doubt kids today are not aware of the Friendster we had during our time. I believe, Friendster is now a gaming website like Y8.com, I guess? I honestly miss Friendster but I am also happy that Facebook is still taking the lead when it comes to social networking.

I have a Friendster account also before. But it did not live long because of the emergence of Facebook. It is in Facebook that I gave my time and attention. Today, I am wondering if Friendster still is existing.

I really like Friendster. In my opinion, it was better than Facebook because you can customize your profile with the different backgrounds, you can even add your favorite music to serve as a background music whenever you open your profile, and you can take care of your own pet too. Too bad it had to close. I wish it would be revived or at least Facebook could learn from Friendster's features and incorporate it into their own system.

When I created an account in Friendster, I really didn’t know what it was all about. I just had to have an account for purposes of testing and I was really disappointed that it is just like creating a chain. You get friends and that’s it. There was no interaction like we have in Facebook. But the owners of Friendster should have tried to compete with Facebook for they can enhance their social media platform because they already have the most number of users. It is just sad that Friendster vanished just like that without even giving a fight.
