What do you hate most about windows?

Recommended Posts

One thing I hate about windows is its mobile OS, they made it so confusing, its even hard to navigate the home screen unlike Android which very user friendly, they should have made it simpler,  that's why windows phones didn't become a hit with users in the first place.

I've never tried using windows on a smartphone I always use android. Nokia tried using Windows on their smartphone to fight for android users but they failed because there are lots of users still love using the simplicity of Android. I think Nokia tried to switch from Android but their sales are not enough to make it to the top they're still behind with Apple and Samsung.

I agree, they haven't figured out yet how to translate the features to gestures. I use Microsoft apps on my smartphone and its a big problem for me when i'm using Microsoft office. Specifically Excel, i having trouble translating gestures as replacement for a mouse. It might be just me just because i'm still trying to figure out how to work without a mouse. But in terms of application, the features didn't change at all and i think the effort of making people comfortable using their products on a smartphone somehow failed.

Exactly and I have the same opinion as well. I love windows, but that's only limited with PC's and nothing else. I also hate their mobile interface because it's also limited. The fact that I hate iOS even though it's fast, I would definitely hate Windows OS on smartphones as well because they're both limited especially with their app stores. I actually find iOS easier to use than Windows OS on phones and I don't know why. Maybe they should really simplify it.

I agree with you on that Microsoft made their Mobile OS as complicated as using a computer which shouldn't really be the case because people would always choose the simplest and most user friendly OS which is Android.  I think who ever proposed and developed it was simply not qualified or has over done it too much.

I guess it's because they did want the people to experience what's it like to have a PC on your phone. However, they failed with that concept and smartphone consumers didn't like the idea because I guess what's the use with having a PC on your phone but it won't work as fast and as easy as your Desktop/Laptop PC. I also think that one of the reasons why it failed is because they started with a Nokia phone with a very small screen size and for me it made a negative effect because consumers are used in to Windows at bigger sizes which I guess if they did implement on a bigger screen before like the ones we have now, I guess the picture wouldn't be the same.

I haven't owned a Windows phone, so I can't say anything about Windows mobile. However, if you're referring to the PC version, hmmm let me see - it's been a year since I'm using Windows 10 and one thing I didn't like is the new settings. I don't know, I'm used to the old XP days where you can pretty much tweak anything, but now, I can't even format the time to my desired format. I mean the one I want is not available. Nevertheless, it's an excellent OS.

I have no experience using windows on mobile phone. But, I used windows 7 in my laptop as Operating System. I don't see any problems with the functionality upon using it. It is very easy and convenient to use. Windows is a user friendly software. Probably,  windows needs to modify their operating system and convert it into mobile friendly software. I mean windows are more expert on running their application in laptop or computer but not into mobile phone.  It needs more improvement.

Windows on mobiles has not become famous. Windows is only for desktops. I am using Windows 8.1 on my laptop for a while now and it has been stable. Though , there are updates pushed through now and then, it is in good condition. Mobile OS needs a huge revamp. People are hesitant to move to the  Windows platform on smartphones and this is a massive area of improvement for Microsoft team

I bought this windows phone so expensively and regretted the act. Windows phones do not connect easily and its features are not so good.

You're the first guy I know that has a Windows phone. Is it from Nokia? Regarding the trouble connecting, it might not be from the OS itself but from the hardware that comes with the phone. How's the app store of Windows? Do they have a lot of apps similar to Google or Apple?

It had many apps and it was similar to Google. It developed problems with its screen and repair was $65 so I just left it in the house. I think children lost it.

Yeah, repairing broken screens come with a hefty price tag. Wait till you hear how much Apple charges you for a screen replacement.

The universal search function works perfectly on 7 and is completely useless on 10. I have 7 at home and 10 at work. If I want to work from home I have to use the latest version of everything for security reasons. I don't want to have a useless search function at home as well, so this regression is why I commute every day.

Maybe I can say that I hate the upgrades of Windows because it entails expenses on the part of the user. When we had the Windows 98 in our office, we were told to master it because we were handling the user support. But after a year there was the Windows 2000 and we had to make another study. Since that time Windows never tired of improving their operating system that users seemed to be having a hard time in upgrading their knowledge. Now our office is going to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and you can imagine the headache that the IT user support department would be facing.
