Do you enable 2-factor authentication on your accounts?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

Do you enable 2-factor authentication on your accounts? These past years, websites and organizations are encouraging people to enable 2-factor authentications on their accounts, especially on social media sites, to prevent other people from stealing your identity. This is also very important for your email and banking accounts because people can easily steal your all your cash if they know or somehow get a hold of your password and you don't have 2-factor authentication enabled.

What are your thoughts about 2-factor authentication? Do you use it on all of your online accounts?

I'm currently enabling 2 Factor Authentication for some of my online accounts and some were just enabled by the banking app itself. I actually hate it tho. I don't know, maybe because it takes more time to log-in especially if you're using a phone and you have to switch to another window just to log in to your email, that's very tiring tho.

However, they are more secure and that's what I like about them. The idea of having 2 Factor Authentication is a great security feature especially for those who have a lot of online accounts because hackers are getting more and more stronger and better right now.

I have enabled some specially on my banking accounts. I didn't use it on my email accounts because i think its too much authentication and also could lead to mishandling of account specially if you have multiple accounts with different authentications.

I'm very much in favor in 2-factor authentication because it avoids hacking your accounts though for some it's kind of tedious to do but seconds wouldn't take much of your time in exchange for securing your accounts. I hope all banking companies and payment portals will have this kind of process because they're the number one target of hackers.

I used 2 factor authentication once in Facebook. Got rid of it when I found out I got hacked despite the security measure I took. I don't know how it was done, but the function to authenticate itself got disabled. It took me more than 6 months to regain access to my account. When I regained access I just found out that the setting has been broken and there had been traces of changes in my Facebook account.

It's kind of bothersome, but I guess better safe than sorry. At least I'm at ease knowing no one will be able to access my stuff unless they have my phone... hopefully. It's also a bit bothersome having to use apps specifically for authentication, though, a sms is much simpler.

I use it if possible. I like the idea of 2FA because I'm obsessed with online security and I always turn on anything that's about security. 2FA can be annoying sometimes especially when receiving codes via SMS but it never bothered me that much, I mean I prefer that than just a password protection.

Access your Google account.
Navigate to your account or security settings.
Look for the option that says "two-factor authentication" or "two-step verification."
To set up 2-factor authentication, follow Google's instructions. This may entail linking your phone number or utilising an authentication app for more security.
Enabling 2-factor authentication provides an extra layer of security to your Google account by requiring a second form of verification in addition to your password, such as a code delivered to your phone. It aids in the protection of your account from unauthorised access.

In today's digital age, where hackers are getting more sophisticated by the day, 2FA is a no-brainer. I use it for my social media, email, and banking accounts without a second thought.

It's a simple yet effective way to keep our data and finances safe. Plus, it's super easy to set up. Just like you mentioned, having a backup like an Australian phone number for 2FA is a great idea. It adds an additional barrier against potential threats. Overall, 2FA is one of those things where the benefits far outweigh any minor inconvenience.
