Kaushik Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 Hello all, My PC is unable to start from the past two days. There is a beep sound thrice when I switch on the CPU. There are 3 short recurrent beeps. I have tried resetting the RAM and the video graphics card but the problem still persists. Any help on this would be highly appreciated. I feel this is a hardware related issue. Quote
Administrators Tony Posted November 30, 2018 Administrators Posted November 30, 2018 Take a look at this list and see if it helps you at all: https://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm Quote
rlpzbeermoney Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 It is possible you have a defective RAM module as most of the codes insist. Try to insert the RAM sticks one by one and see if it works. If you have a spare computer that's compatible with your hardware, try to plug it in there too to speed up the process of checking. If all components are working there, then it means your motherboard is the problem. Quote
NerdIndeed Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 Answers were right as I also experienced the same thing before and it was a RAM issue. The hardware may need to be reseated or its defective. Quote

I have tried inserting the RAM chip on the other slots as well and the problem still persists. Looks like I have to replace the RAM. I will probably call a hardware engineer to check the motherboard before I take a final call. Quote
NikSuks Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 You should try to boot your PC without one stick of a RAM memory. I had a similar problem and what I wrote solved my problem. It is probably a problem with corrupted RAM memory. I hope this will help you. Other possibility is that your OS is failing. Quote
Kaushik Posted December 23, 2018 Author Posted December 23, 2018 Hello guys, the problem is now solved. The hardware engineer told me it was due to a loose contact of the dvd drive and the also the audio and video cards were not fully inserted into their slots. Quote
NikSuks Posted December 24, 2018 Posted December 24, 2018 I am glad you had the problem solved. It appears that solution was too easy my friend. Good luck to you and I hope your PC serves you well! Quote

You might waste much time or spoil it more if you try it alone. Quote
Corzhens Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 I know that this issue is already resolved. I would just like to share the same problem with our desktop. It is a recurring problem that occurs like once every 2 months that 3 beeps would sound when booting. It is usually the loose connection of the monitor. On the first time it happened we checked everything and we forgot to check the monitor until someone said that it may be the problem... and it was. Quote
