dullian
I've messed around with both languages but always find people saying that HTML is kind of deprecated, and since HTML5 maintains a lot of principles of HTML, it's more practical focusing on HTML5. I don't think learning HTML would be completely unbeneficial, but maybe it's true that learning only HTML5 will do. What do you think? focusedwriter10
Well, I am still in the learning process, but I would advise you to learn HTML5 because it entails almost everything you would learn on HTML language.
kx8
There's differences between HTML and HTML5. Few of these are the audio and video which are both integral part of HTML5. I think HTML5 allows JavaScript to run and HTML doesn't allow it. It's also consisntet with improved codes. It wouldn't hurt if you want to learn HTML, but I think HTML5 would be a better option for you to focus on.

drickxandrea
It's more better if you'll learn both HTML and HTML5. The more knowledge you'll gain the better skills you get. Though HTML is a constituent of neither audio and video while HTML5 can do both, HTML would make the other much more excellent than only including itself. John Aeliya
Learning HTML5/CSS3 is learning HTML/CSS. They're just the newest versions of the languages. If you learn one version of HTML or CSS, it's fairly trivial to write in another version. Jacob
There are different versions of HTML. HTML5 is just the latest version, and that means that it has absolutely the same stuff as the previous version of HMTL + some additional features. Jasica James
It is true that nowadays we all are using HTML 5 which is far advance then HTML, but for a fresher, I will recommend learning HTML first then switch to Html 5 as it is the base and it will make HTML 5 very easy for you. HTML 5 is the base of Language and very simple, it would hardly take 14 days to learn.
