Corzhens
I have been looking around for ways to block hackers from hitting my computer. To be honest, it is scary for the computer to be hacked much more when the hacker is malicious that he might use my database for mischief. They say that I have to make my password difficult and it should be changed regularly. But that is the protection for my accounts like email and social media account. What about my computer, is it the network that should be protected?
NikSuks
I think that you need to enable Windows Defender if you have Windows 7 or newer OS. This is, sort of, antivirus program and it is quite good. It will do fine. However, this Defender can be used for some basic protection. If you fear that some high skilled hacker will attack your system, then you should go for some expensive antivirus program, which offers better protection than Windows Defender does. rlpzbeermoney
I'd turn off Remote Access from the Control Panel. Most people don't know this and hackers most likely prey on people like this. Basically it gives anyone in your network access to your desktop (mouse and keyboard too) from a different computer. It's supposed to be for tech support to remotely fix your computer but it's been taken advantage of in recent years.
evancooper
Sorry for bumping such an old thread but this topic is actual at any time. There are two ways to protect your PC I know. Forst, you can switch on Windows Defender if you domnot want to use the external antivirus software. I have found a lot of replies about the effectivity of the native Windows Defender but I do not oprefer to use it. I can recommend you Malwarebytes Premium to detect and delete and malware and Norton Antivirus Plus to find and delete viruses from your PC as well as to protect you when you are browsing online. It is better to use a reliable antivirus, for me it is Kaspersky Internet Security.
