Administrators Nathan Posted February 21, 2012 Administrators Posted February 21, 2012 Which do you prefer and why? It seems like I see almost all HD stuff on Vimeo. I prefer YouTube, just because it works well with the integration of all the other Google products I use and a single sign on. Quote
Administrators Tony Posted February 21, 2012 Administrators Posted February 21, 2012 If I were to use videos as a major part of my marketing, I would use both. YouTube certainly is the best for exposure, but Vimeo is well liked and even preferred by some over YouTube Quote
crumblepie Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 I would opt for YouTube because Vimeo videos take forever to load on my computer, and I know there are people with far worse connections than me! And most people don't even know about Vimeo... they may have come across it once or twice, but I don't think as many people head over to Vimeo to search for something. Quote
Shole Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 YouTube since I have an acc there and YouTube is a part of google and since google is awesome...well you get the point anyhow I know I can earn with YouTube but not sure if I can do the same with Vimeo ? Quote
Creaky Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Youtube, got an account there and never used Vimeo. Quote
Talk Tech News Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 I like both but use youtube a lot more. I do like vimeo and have found some great content on there in the past. Quote
Jessi Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 I go with YouTube, both for uploading and viewing. I think it's more popular so has more videos to see and gets more views when I put my stuff there. I do hate some of the restrictions, though, so occasionally I have to go to Vimeo to see videos. Quote
objecture Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 I prefer Youtube. My main gripe with Vimeo is its seek feature. The part you want to go to must be downloaded first which sucks when you want to watch the end of a long video. Quote
Pete T Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Only used Youtube so my vote going there. Quote
visionrafael84 Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 I like both, but youtube is usually my default to watch and upload videos on. I use youtube daily to find random funny videos to watch, how to videos.... pretty much do a ton of things with youtube. Anyone out here a partner with youtube? Quote
nupersatural Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 I've been using youtube for, I think, 6 years now and I'm not planning to change that haha. The simple design and huge community makes the site superior to any other video streaming site, in my opinion. Quote
fakesky Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 For marketing, youtube is a great platform to promote products, if you know what you're doing. Although I use vimeo too, but for my personal needs only, not for work, it's not so much spammed, and very nice overall. Quote
godarm Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Vimeo is so much better, atleast for me.Uploading videos is so much easier. You are able to watch it upload, rather than just getting the never-ending YouTube loading page. You can also edit the information about the video while it is uploading. Quote
chiller Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Youtube, of course. I alosi like Vimeo but it's just that I'm used to uploading videos on Youtube. Dailymotion is not bad either. Quote
Administrators Nathan Posted February 24, 2012 Author Administrators Posted February 24, 2012 You are able to watch it upload, rather than just getting the never-ending YouTube loading page. androidz Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 I use YouTube as well, it has the greatest reach and diversity, integration with Google's products/services and of course greater number of videos. I don't care much for HD as it takes forever to load. Quote
Talk Tech News Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 I think that the community aspect really gets a lot of people using youtube. Quote
purpkush Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 I prefer YouTube to Vimeo simply because of its popularity and the variety. The community behind YouTube is what makes it the most appealing, as Talk Tech News said. The only thing I seriously dislike about YouTube is its heavy censorship of videos containing any copyrighted material, although Vimeo is quite guilty of this as well. Quote
godarm Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 On YouTube you can do both of these things. It has been years since I was on YouTube. Just checked out YouTube, its looks much better now . The site layout completely changed. I guess I need to change my opinion now. Quote
bryce12 Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 My vote goes with Youtube as well. It's the 3rd most popular site on the internet so it makes sense to use it in your marketing efforts. But when I use video marketing, I publish my videos on top video sites to get maximum exposure and traffic. I use tubeMogul to publish my videos on multiple sites. Quote
Talk Tech News Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Although youtube is the most popular video site and third most popular website I think that you should also use other video sites when it is for the purpose of business. Quote
dojo Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 I've uploaded some videos from my travels in NYC last yaer and chose Youtube for this. I do like watching videos on Vimeo too, but I don't have an account there and haven't tried to upload anything just yet. My Youtube account is anyway connected to all my other google services, so it was easy to work with. not to mention my camcorder software 'knows' how to automatically upload what I want to my Youtube account, so less work for me Quote
Talk Tech News Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 It's great how devices such as camcorders are being designed with the ability to make uploading to youtube so straight forward for people. Quote
visionrafael84 Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 The good and bad thing with youtube is the constant change. Once I find my way on the site they seem to do a overhaul and they keep getting more and more extreme. I'm looking up setup my 4th account there that I'll be uploading videos on little by little trying to make that youtube partner money. Quote
