chiller Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Let's share what programming languages we are comfortable with. You can also share the one you would like to "master". Personally, I know PHP, HTML, CSS, Javascript and a bit of Java. I would love to learn C/C++ and Assembly but I don't have time right now. What about you?? Quote
Administrators Tony Posted February 15, 2012 Administrators Posted February 15, 2012 I'm more of a 'jack of all trades' when it comes to anything on the computer. I'm currently working as an SQL Developer, but learning PHP, HTML, CSS, and jQuery at the same time. I'd love to master all of them, but getting comfortable is where I'd like to see myself by this time next year Quote
Administrators Nathan Posted February 15, 2012 Administrators Posted February 15, 2012 Database Developer here. I've worked with the following Database systems: Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Microsoft SQL Server 2008 DTS Packages SSIS Packages FoxPro Sybase MYSQL Microsoft Access Now that I know how the back ends work I really want to focus on front end development such as PHP, HMTL, and CSS. hamishmcgee Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 I'm currently learning Java in university (Computer Games Development), although I'm not too great at it yet, but getting there! I also used to do a bit of web design so I'm pretty confident with html/css, although I'd love to learn PHP. So...I'm not really a "programmer" yet depends if you count html/css aha Quote

Administrators Tony Posted February 15, 2012 Administrators Posted February 15, 2012 Hopefully, Code School puts in a php course, but that's where I'm learning jQuery and CSS In case anyone is wondering... Yes. It is worth the money to pay for those courses Quote

DarkGizmo Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I know HTML and CSS. I know very basic Javascript & PHP Just a little and even less AJAX. I'm still learning and would love to learn more JS, PHP and Ajax though. It'd be great to know and master these languages as many applications I use are written with PHP, Jquery and Mysql. I know very basic Mysql but nothing too in-depth. I just can't seem to find the time to crack open one of the books I bought and intended to read. Time just doesn't permit me to doing so, at least not at this point in my life. Quote
androidz Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 I'm familiar the following programming languages with Assembly (NASM Syntax), Perl, and C/C++. I'm good with VB/VB .NET and Delphi. As for Markup... I'm okay with HTML, but not so good with CSS. I'm also familiar with MySQL databases. I see programming languages as a general set of rules and while switching from one programming language to another can be daunting and sometimes frustrating, I don't see it as impossible. Just keep the manual ready nearby. Quote
Talk Tech News Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 I know HTML and have been learning more about MySQL and CSS through designing my own sites. Quote

Learn it. Use it. Quote
wonderzz Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 I know a little about C++ but I just started. I want to learn more about Java though. Quote
W00t Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 PM me if you want my skype name wonderzz, I can help you learn the C family of languages. Quote
Talk Tech News Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Perl less so than the others, but yes. Why? They are languages that I have not learnt so I was curious as to how often you use them and what for? Quote
W00t Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Lua to be honest I use very little these days, but it was my first language. Python I use for networking, IE servers, clients. Perl I use for quick output tasks, like say I needed 9000 "x00"s, or for more fine-grain control over networking than Python offers. Quote
Pete T Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 i know php,css and html very little javascript i learn using online site and few books. Quote
bryce12 Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Great to see that people have worked in so many different technologies. Regarding my skills, here are few tools and programming languages that I have worked on C HTML Javascript ASP VBScript SQL PL/SQL Oracle Cognos Informatica Nowadays I don't get a chance to code that much because of the front end tools used in my company but I still miss my coding days. objecture Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 The languages I know are: C++ C# Action Script 3.0 x86 assembly(Intel syntax) BASIC I plan on learning PHP over the next few months and MySQL latter in the year. Quote
Hedonologist Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 I used to be quite comfortable with Visual Basic, I was intermediate with C, but never really pushed ahead to get full compentant. I have never even attempted assembly. I dabbled in Pearl also, but never used it apart from learning. I can do HTML/CSS but that is more scripting. Quote
